Re: Chicago Class of 2014
So I really want to go to ASW, but at the same time, I've never been to Chicago and cannot wait until April. Should I do ASW or just one of the One Day programs in February?

In the Chi 1Ls Taking Questions thread you can see current students' opinions on missing ASW. Fwiw, I'm only going to a Day in the Life program and I think that will definitely be fine so I say visit soon!DorianGray89 wrote:So I really want to go to ASW, but at the same time, I've never been to Chicago and cannot wait until April. You might get better answers in the Chi 1Ls taking questions thread since most of us don't live in Chicago [yet!!!]seancooksey07 wrote:Just glancing at the different off-campus housing places around Hyde Park, I'm actually really impressed and excited. There are a number of good pet-friendly places (I don't have a dog but I really want one!).
Some of them offer extra-pay parking, but does anyone have any idea what the parking situation is like for those people whose residence doesn't offer parking?

I know there's a "living in Chicago" thread and one about "so you're thinking of moving to Hyde Park?" which might also have answers. (I think those are the titles in quotes in case you want to search for them!)seancooksey07 wrote:Good pointeskimo wrote:You might get better answers in the Chi 1Ls taking questions thread since most of us don't live in Chicago [yet!!!]seancooksey07 wrote:Just glancing at the different off-campus housing places around Hyde Park, I'm actually really impressed and excited. Eski are you dead-set on UChi? We need more Roll Tide here in the Village.

Are you really going into other schools' C/O threads and trying to win people over to your own school? tsk tskforza wrote:Eski are you dead-set on UChi? We need more Roll Tide here in the Village.

I am ~90% on Chi, but the two things that can change that are scholarships and visits/ASWs, and I'm definitely coming to the 3rd NYU ASW! I'm excited about it, and NYU is certainly not out of the running. I really am going to need some Alabama fans wherever I end up.forza wrote:Eski are you dead-set on UChi? Sooo being admitted to UChi has really blown my mind. But I'll need some scholly money to make it feasible. Does anyone have any good info or sources on when aid packages come out? And if UChi gives much in the way of need based? TIA-- I'm at median numbers-wise so I'm not getting my hopes up tho :/

In the questions thread the current students said they didn't know of anyone getting need-based scholarships last year.DaveBear07 wrote:Sooo being admitted to UChi has really blown my mind. I will go stalk last year's thread to see when people started hearing about money and get back to you.

Just FYI: New York has a full-service, badass Alabama bar where I go to watch the games. Complete with fight song after TDs, shakers on the tables, and Rammer Jammer if we win.eskimo wrote:I am ~90% on Chi, but the two things that can change that are scholarships and visits/ASWs, and I'm definitely coming to the 3rd NYU ASW! Anyway, among the pages and pages of arguing and ridiculous conversations, I think I found the first scholarship notifications Feb. 23-25 (stopped reading after that) so... a little over a month until the first people start hearing? Scholarship notification comes by email.
Also, in early Feb. they sent out emails to people still under review asking them to submit a scholarship essay, and that information would come out with their decisions. These people did not hear before the applicants who had already been admitted, but I just thought I'd make note of it, so that in case they do the same thing this year we won't freak out and think we're not being considered for aid.

And I don't know if we've discussed this ITT yet, but FAFSA/NeedAccess/etc. are all due Feb. 1.
