If you're looking at Brooklyn (e: or god help you, Hoboken) I'd say keep trying, but Manhattan without a broker is truly a nightmare if not impossible. That said, that info comes from friends who are
Manhatten brokers, so even though they aren't charging me they may have been indoctrinated with that idea. yet, it seems like they aren't wrong.
