Re: NYU Class of 2014
I'm trying to prepare for the upcoming Anbryce interviews at the end of March. Does anyone know of any specific questions they ask, besides the ones described on the website?

They will be sending you the information of current scholars. You should feel free to contact them with any questions that you might have about the interview process.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
Does anybody know, from past years, what the interviews for RTK finalists were like and what sorts of questions were asked? (Apparently a current Root Scholar will be contacting us, so I guess we can ask them about this, too.)
Also, anybody know any finalists from prior years who did not receive the scholarship? Since it looks like there's about a 2/3 chance for any finalist not to receive it (~60 finalists for ~20 scholarships), I'm curious what sort of financial aid they ended up getting after missing out on the RTK. Very little help? A lot? The exact same merit/need-based aid they would've gotten without being considered for RTK? Anybody have any insight on this?

I took the LSAT at NYU, but I am really looking forward to ASW because I have essentially blacked out any memories of my surroundings that morning.thecilent wrote:Right? It's awesome therelaw_monkey wrote:Visited today! Am in love!!! I had no idea the facilities there were that gorgeous!

At this point, just FAFSA, I think. Then the loan acceptance forms come in the summer.cruelestgame wrote:so Financial Aid Report came...no institutional grants/scholarships...now do I just wait for them to contact me about loans or am I supposed to be doing something?

I'm trying to decide what I want to do for housing. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I'm still not sold on campus housing, but I don't think I want to commute from Brooklyn, and I don't think there are that many viable options in between. I'd love to hear what everyone else is thinking!

This may sound really dumb, but those of you who went to the first ASW, what was the accepted attire?

Re: NYU Class of 2014
I would say there are a lot of other viable options. Personally, I think Brooklyn is the way to go (that's where I live and I love it!), but there are a number of other options. Places in the East Village, especially near or in Alphabet City are likely to be cheaper than campus housing. Chelsea or Grammercy Park would also be cheaper and fairly close to campus. All of those are nice neighborhoods with fun things to do nearby and easy transportation via subway, etc.birdlaw117 wrote:I'm trying to decide what I want to do for housing. I've made this offer to a number of folks, but I'm happy to provide some local advise if people are looking to come to the city but don't want to live in campus housing. Feel free to PM me.

There was a wide range. I would say avoid sweatpants, suits, and dresses. Everything else will fit in fine (obviously within reason).daisyduke wrote:This may sound really dumb, but those of you who went to the first ASW, what was the accepted attire?
As I read in another thread: dress like you were meeting your significant other's parents at cheesecake factory. Sounds weird, but probably pretty accurate.

I will probably take you up on that offer. Be expecting a PM from me in the near future.gendefect wrote:I would say there are a lot of other viable options. Re: NYU Class of 2014
I didn't receive any $$ and I'm still sold on NYU. The way I see it, with the field I want to enter NYU can't be beat. With that in mind, its tough to find an investment with a high return that doesn't involve some risk. Now, this would all probably change if I had great offers from other schools, but that isn't the case.kellyg1234 wrote:I'm yet to accept. How does everyone feel about the $? (no scholarships. alas).
The whole idea of this much debt is rather terrifying though.

+1 for just saying f*** it and going for Dag. All other things being equal, I think I'm just going to do it because you can't beat the commute (or lack thereof).
But I think I'll go for a 2 or 3 br. I like having roommates. But I'm weird like that.
