Man, Reynolds is so TTT. I want me an actor who can snag good scripts.

(PI/clerking/undergrads would be cool by me)

Buried was pretty good, and Van Wilder was awesome for when it came out.

Also, even though I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), you have to appreciate the man's commitment to his glistening six-pack.

I made a promise to myself years ago that I would never again talk about sex robots. I plan to keep that promise.

Suddenly, I have this overwhelming joy at the though of being at NYU in August.

Pretty much it, other than that Peas isn't a dude.

Don't worry, this can't be as bad as the first day of CivPro

No, he actually means a class on Civilization--the game. Once you've logged about 300 hours you get pro status, it's quite an achievement really.

Seriously though, CivPro sounds like the worst 1L class.

I think it sounds like a beast, but an interesting one. I'm personally dreading Contracts. I realize that's like most of law, but it seems incredibly boring to learn about. :(

I had lunch with one of the profs teaching Contracts when I visited - she said she felt the exact same way going in, but that it ended up being her favorite class.

I'm reserving judgment until we actually get into the semester, but CivPro and Torts (not sure why) scare me.

Are you guys doing any prep work before school starts? I just finished Game of Thrones, and I'm moving on to Clash of Kings. I'm not sure if that's really going to help me in school. It is helping me criticize the HBO series, however.

Did anyone else mail in their deposit? I mailed mine in a while ago and called the office to make sure it got in, they have it on record. I still haven't received any sort of confirmation email or anything like that though, should I have gotten something?

Also, NYU Law!!!!

I already stocked up on shirts, a sweater, and some mugs to leave out when people come over :)

I'm going to watch Rocky marathons any chance I get on AMC; read comics; read some dry science literature to get my brain back in functioning order; go camping; eat my mother's amazing cooking as much as possible; workout; lounge by the pool drinking cheap boxed wine; play soccer; tutor; and maybe read Getting to Maybe.

So...no real prep.

I'm not planning on doing much prep. Come August I'll probably read some of the advice all over this forum, but probably not much beyond that.

Lisi wrote:I don't mind hipsters -- provided they don't take over the neighborhood and raise the rent prices around here. There are many more on the other side of the GW bridge and less on my side. Not sure what to say about my neighborhood. I like being surrounded by parks (there's a small park near my house w/ a dog park), there's Fort Tryon Park (which is very pretty), and there's the Greenway along the Hudson. The A train (which I get at 175th - from my apt. on 176th) runs express from 125 to 59th, so it's very convenient for getting downtown. My reference point is the trip downtown that I would have when I lived in Morningside Heights as a grad student. It's faster for me to meet my friends in midtown from 176th than it was from 112th because of how the trains work out. If you live in my neighborhood, you should definitely live to the west of Broadway. The apartments are nicer. I really feel safe in my neighborhood - though I'm certain there's quite a bit of drug deals going on under my nose. The area is really mixed though, in terms of ages. And people are out on the street (in a good way - a makes-you-feel-safe way) and very nice. Like most NY neighborhoods, you've got everything here (groceries, pharmacies, wash-and-folds, nail parlors, restaurants, basically the usual suspects). If you're looking for very hip, my hood is probably not the best place for you. But it is a very good deal if you want space (my apartment is about 600 sq/ft and I currently pay $931 - which includes heat and water). It doesn't get a lot of sunlight in the main room, but that's really my only complaint.
Thanks for the insight! 931 is CHEAP. I haven't seen anything that cheap.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
