Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
woo another berkeley person.
as to cleanliness - they are very very very serious about that. in my building, after a tenant leaves, they repaint the walls and rebuff the floor. (though it could have just been the timing). and if something breaks, the maintenance people are generally pretty good if you put in an order to get something fixed.

Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
Don't despair! I'll be at the first one too. I was already going to be at Columbia that weekend for my sister's directing senior thesis (she is a Columbia College undergrad). It would have been very sad to be there and not be able to go to the ASW.eaa1537 wrote:I'm going to the first one, and I feel like a lot of people are going to the second... boooo hahastarrydreamz3 wrote:Just registered for the second one! I'm going to the NYU one in April so I will be spending the full two days. I'm close enough to commute in to the city, debating whether I want to get a hotel room. My boyfriend lives in Newark maybe I'll just chill with him over night. Yeah, that's what I'll do!
See you all there!
I think it's frowned upon, but I don't think it will be a big deal. That said, my parents are going to be there at the same time as well for my sister's play so I am doing everything in my power to make sure they don't insist upon attending any events. Although I have been out of college for 3 years so it would be a bit weirder if my parents came along with me.daisyduke wrote:Random question: do people usually take families (parents) to admitted student weekends?

Has anyone receieved their unique Columbia ID/password? The one needed to access the housing application?
I know they aren't accepting apps for a few weeks, but wasn't sure if I missed an email or something.

Very excited to be able to join this group - haven't made a firm decision yet but definitely leaning towards CLS after getting my acceptance yesterday.

Is anyone else trying to do a Columbia NYU combined ASW trip last week of March? Columbia is Weds, Thursday and NYU is Thursday, Friday - not sure how I'll manage that but not sure I can afford two cross country trips and get the time off work so I'll have to figure it out.

I'm doing this with their first ASW. It seems that most of the NYU stuff doesn't happen until afternoon on the first day so I think you should be able to manage both. I'm staying at a hotel in times square and going to take the subway back and forth- I figured that was the best way to save money and be able to see both schools in one trip.jtemp320 wrote:Is anyone else trying to do a Columbia NYU combined ASW trip last week of March? I don't know how much you are paying for your Times Square hotel, but the On the Ave hotel at 77th and Broadway was having a really good sale (something like low $100s for a room). I'm not a shill for the hotel, but my family usually stays there when we visit my sister at Columbia and its a really nice hotel especially at that price. Also its easy to get up to CLS but a 5-10 minute walk to the 72nd street subway which has express trains for when you want to go downtown.eaa1537 wrote:I'm doing this with their first ASW. Back to ASW stuff, and this is also assuming I get into NYU, how bad would it be to miss the evening events at NYU/CLS's ASW (particularly on Thursday)?

Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
Thanks for the info! I'm not sure where I'm staying- my mom is coming with me and staying in the hotel/doing her own thing while I go to see everything so she made the reservation (guess she didn't trust me to go to NY by myself and I guess I don't blame her haha)
Also- just got a huge package in the mail- it includes a lot of info about their curriculum and different programs as well as a magazine. Pretty neat!

+1 for the ABSOLUTELY INSANE brick of CLS materials. I have no idea how people with tiny mailboxes are going to get that monster.

Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
does anyone know what kind of grades we need to maintain to not have CLS rescind our acceptance. that's my main concern because they didn't ask for my fall grades (thank god) and they-were-bad. based on my current work ethics, spring isn't looking too optimistic either.
