I wonder how big of a deal it is that my pictures will be submitted after deadline...

Re: Fordham Class of 2014
I just mailed mine this morning. Also, I look like I'm posing for a mugshot. The guy at Duane Reade told me not to smile and I was just like, "uhh, okay then," but didn't realize until after that he thought I was taking a passport photo. Oh well.JenDarby wrote:I wonder how big of a deal it is that my pictures will be submitted after deadline...

I knew I made the right decision when I got my portfolio in the mail. I love a good portfolio. I now have one to match every single one of my suits.

Holy crap, guys. Searching for an apartment in Manhattan looks terrifying: http://gothamist.com/2011/07/08/apartme ... y_manh.php

My roomie and I are having issues with this right now. It's almost impossible to find a good, "cheap" place.aaaaaah wrote:Holy crap, guys. Searching for an apartment in Manhattan looks terrifying: http://gothamist.com/2011/07/08/apartme ... y_manh.php

I'm starting to get worried, too. But don't worry:
But while Manhattan rents are booming, sales are not. According to reports, sales of Manhattan co-ops and condos declined 3.8 percent in the second quarter from last year with the median price of apartments that sold dipping 5.5 percent to $850,000.

Haha we didnt really look elsewhere--we're just renewing her lease since her roommate is moving out anyway. But it's not an unsafe neighborhood at all, I've been there.

Yea I'm sure the neighborhood is fine, especially if you're on the west side.Gotti wrote:Stringer6 wrote:Told ya

Re: Fordham Class of 2014
Found a gorgeous place on the upper east side. ONLY downside: 40 minutes to Fordham. Hopefully.
Does anyone here know when classes typically start during 1L? 9am? 9:30? *gulp*... before 9am?

it is, it's a week long orientation and they do like classes/workshops on how to read/outline/whatever else and they "test" you on it at the end. they said it at ASDGemini wrote:I don't know about everyone, but yes, I've received it.Stringer6 wrote:has everyone received that leather folder or whatever it is? i don't have mine.

Re: Fordham Class of 2014
I know this has probably been asked a thousand times, but does anyone know when (approximately) our loan money will be dispersed? On the website they say "a few days before classes start" but do they mean classes or orientation?
Also, they say you can petition for a COA adjustment for a new computer. Any idea who to e-mail for this? Just shoot a general e-mail to the financial aid office? My mac is is from like 1998 and is going to die any second...

I believe they get dispersed a few days before CLASSES, not orientation. Money is definitely gonna be tight till then.

Re: Fordham Class of 2014
For 1Ls this past year it ranged a bit, but if you got your paperwork in on time then you probably got your loans during the second week of class or so. It might have been a bit earlier, I can't precisely remember, but it was certainly a few days after classes started at the earliest. As you will see Fordham bursar and registrar are not the most efficient offices.Gemini wrote:I believe they get dispersed a few days before CLASSES, not orientation. Also, Orientation for us was 4 days without a test at the end. It might be a bit different this year as Dean Martin had just been announced as interim dean before orientation and now he may want to change it up a bit, but I would be surprised if you guys actually had a test.

How do people afford to pay their Sept 1st rent if loans aren't dispersed until a few weeks after class? I have a few grand in savings but that will most likely be liquidated if I change apartments as they require first month, last month, and security. What is everyone doing? This is absolutely terrifying...

Pretty sure it gets dispersed BEFORE Sept 1st. But they do say to plan ahead...
