Craigslist
Streeteasy
Apartments.com
Padmapper
Backpage
Don't most of these sites allow you to set price limits? I just put 2400 max for craigslist and I get all the corresponding shitty places.
yeah but nothing comes up when i put in $2000 limit for a 2 bedroom lol. or like 3 listings come up

haha and lol @ the $2400 bringing up shitty places. you're willing to pay a lot =\

I remember when I first moved here and I was looking for apartments in that price range. I quickly learned that many of these $2000 "2 bedrooms" are what brokers like to call "winged 2 bedrooms" meaning that they are 1 bedrooms with a living room which can really be counted as a second bedroom (lots of people here have apts with no real living room).

I remember seeing an ad for a 3 bedroom and visiting the apartment. It was really a large one bedroom that the broker explained "could be divided" into 3 bedrooms.

I also enjoy the "railroad" style apartments where you have to walk through everyone else's bedrooms to use the bathroom.

Oh, NY.

the last one might be legit, but i don't think so. it says there are 3 rooms. does 1 include that kitchen?

there is no chance that the first 3 are real 2 bedrooms. i think the middle two are the same place. be skeptical when there aren't a lot of photos.

i never said i wasn't skeptical...just that i found 2 beds in Chelsea for $2k or less. I'd go check them out, of course.

I mean, 2k is possible, but more likely in the Harlem/Inwood part of the city. So it's not exactly the neighborhood you're looking for.

not really...my friend looked for apartments last year and she found apts for $2k in the UWS way before Harlem/Morningside. There are some good places, you just have to look. That's where a broker is useful...for those hard to find cheaper places in areas you don't expect to find cheap stuff. the homegirl has lived in manhattan for 5 years and has moved into a new apartment that she and her roommates found on their own everywhere from West Village to UWS

so you're saying that all of these apartments are not legit if you set the max at $2k for a 2 bedroom...?

http://www.bestaptsnyc.com

they can't ALL be scams, esp if they list different companies as being responsible for the listings

They might not be scams, but the bedrooms might fit your bed and a chair and thats it.

I had a legit 2 bdrm that was <$1700 on 105th btwn Madison & 5th (in 2006-2007). More Spanish Harlem than anything else, but right by Central Park, super close to the 6 and pretty close to the 2/3 as well as a ton of buses.

I believe there are deals to be found, but it can be tricky... and those prices are more common above 96th St.

COA is listed as $73,573 in the email they sent out a week or so ago and its listed as $73,678 on the financial aid website, linked through my.fordham.edu. It's close, and not a big deal, just another unclear item in this financial aid process. It's comforting to have everything finally completed and be able to look at the financial aid site and see my loans processing.

Edit: The financial aid site lists $104 in loan fees as being included in my COA, so I suppose that is where the difference (almost exactly) originates from.

I just received Fordhams leather portfolio with registration forms inside, which I find slightly amusing since supposedly those forms are due on July 6th. If they are going to send them in the mail, they should shoot for them arriving sooner....

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Got it on Friday, but still, that's awfully close to today's deadline. I do like the portfolio though!

+1. The "this is kinda close" was just a brief side thought followed by "OMG THIS FOLDER THING IS SO COOL! LOOK AT THE PEN TOO!"

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
