It's SOOOOOOO gorgeous!!!! I already visited since I have to go to another ASW that weekend, but the campus is amazing and the law school building was very nice. Plus the faculty and administration there were really helpful. Instead of doing the whole "we're better than the other schools/let's put on a parade to make ourselves look as great as possible" they were completely honest in outlining what qualities Duke has and then what type of people would and would not appreciate those qualities. It was such a great trip, and that's when I really started liking Duke.alphamoose wrote:Got my scholarship letter! Very happy and will definitely be attending ASW to check Duke out.

Good to know. I'll probably understand when at the ASW... Well, I'm now in the market for a 2000-6 Honda Insight...thickfreakness wrote:You need a car.ScarryBakhtin wrote:OK so quick interruption of scholly news for a q I had... Do most people in Duke Law have cars, bikes, or neither?

Re: Duke Law Class of 2014
No I have to miss that one too!!! I'll be at Penn's that weekend. It absolutely sucks that 3 of them are on the same weekend. But my mom and I are using my spring break to come out to the east coast and look at the schools I'll be missing, and obviously I've already been to Duke. Although as one of my front runners I'm really bummed that I can't be at the ASW.alphamoose wrote:Good to know, thanks! I like that they don't act like it's the most perfect school for every single applicant. I get annoyed when students/faculty/admins sidestep questions about what they could improve, any negatives, ect. People want to know the truth! hahalaw_monkey wrote:It's SOOOOOOO gorgeous!!!! Would the other ASW be Georgetown by chance?

Hi.
I am a current student at Duke Law. If there are any summer starters who are interested in a sublet, let me know. It's big, inexpensive, and close to school. I'll be away for my SA position, and this may be a good opportunity for you to survey the area before signing a lease for the entire year.

I'll be going to ASW at Duke, but just curious if you could give me a recap of what they said about what type of people would and not appreciate the qualities of Duke.law_monkey wrote:It's SOOOOOOO gorgeous!!!! Re: Duke Law Class of 2014
Since it's a really small class size they have a really great law school community. Plus the school puts on a ton of programming, so it seems like students are at the law school a lot of the time. They told me that people who don't want everyone to know who they are and all their business probably won't like it as much there, just because it's really easy to at least recognize most other students. And they said if you want a clear cut boundary between law school and your personal/home life, since the students do so much with the law school and they said the people who seem to be the least happy are the ones who take the least advantage of all it has to offer. Other than that, some bigger city people have trouble adjusting to the smaller size of Durham. But that just matters on the person, since others probably handle it just fine.stewie27 wrote:I'll be going to ASW at Duke, but just curious if you could give me a recap of what they said about what type of people would and not appreciate the qualities of Duke.law_monkey wrote:It's SOOOOOOO gorgeous!!!! Hi all,
I just got the offer for one-year exchange in Duke! It's so great news for me....almost cannot fall asleep today. I quite enjoy the smaller size community in Durham and hope to meet you all in the coming semester!
BTW, I come from Shanghai and study in Hong Kong for LLB degree

Does anyone know how easy it is to live in Durham with no car? Is the public transportation decent?

Re: Duke Law Class of 2014
I would, but I'm absolutely positive it was my family's pathetic income rather than my numbers that got me a scholly that high, especially since this was need and merit based. Because other than that my numbers definitely didn't get me 90k.farrellaroonie wrote:Congrats law monkey! That's wonderful. Would you minding pm'ing me your stats?
