Congrats! And for the poster asking about CaliMizzou's numbers, I believe he/she is on LSN.

Anyone going to send in application for Jeffersonian in Jan? I'm hoping I can get one if I apply early enough (Jan 1? :D ). But I was wondering if anyone knows this: if I get an apartment but decide not to live there later (before signing any contract), do I have to pay a fine or something?

Congrats!! - Was nervous when I got the email too. Jason says that they just like to chat with those who are being accepted to get to know them and answer questions - he's a really nice guy. Nothing to worry about, you're in.

Thanks. I got off with phone with him a little while ago. You were right, really nice guy. I'm so excited, can't wait for next year!!!

Congrats! Mind sharing your numbers?

No problem. 170/3.32 (3.45 degree granting)...

So, I sent in my ED form (via fax) yesterday, right after I applied on the LSAC website, but before my report was actually sent. I got the status checker e-mail from UVA this morning, but they haven't acknowledged receiving the ED form yet. Do you think there's confusion because the form preceded their receiving my application? Should I be worried? Am I just being impatient? I would email them about it, but I don't want them to think I'm overeager/crazy.

I sent in the ED form before the rest of the app and everything was fine. It's probably fine for you too, I'd wait and If they don't acknowledge it by the middle of next week or so, then I'd give em a call.

Has anyone started their housing search? Know of popular places for law/graduate students to live? I guess this question may be better served in one of the discussions with current students...

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to hear. :)

Edit: Naturally, I got the confirmation e-mail half an hour later.

Most will tell you to live in Ivy Gardens or anywhere on Arlington. Apparently the Jeffersonian is highly desirable. I think I'm gonna live in Ivy, just because that's where most of the law students will probably be and I'm a conformist.

I'M IN! I'M IN! I'M IN!

Cordel Faulk is the nicest person on the planet, but I only talked to him for a minute because I was hyperventilating. I am so happy, it is indescribable. It could not be better.

Splitter-ish: GPA just below the 25th, LSAT just above the 75th.

nah, you'd be fine in that situation. the owner usually has a long waiting list of people willing to live there, so if you decide to pass when she calls your number she'd just move onto the next number. well, that's how it was last year anyway, but i see no reason it would change this year.

I was offered an apartment at the Jeffersonian last year and passed, it was no problem.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere. I looked all over on google, the school's website, and searched the forum.

What is the ED deadline? If it's Nov 1st, I'm kinda screwed. Still need to finish up my personal statement and get my last letter of recommendation to be posted on LSAC. I get my LSAT score this week and unless I did way worse than expected I'm thinking I should be able to get in on ED.

Thanks!

The deadline for ED at UVA is the same as the deadline for regular applications (March 1).

Oh really? That's great news! Thanks

One more question: If I get accepted ED, I know that means I have to go to UVA, but do I have to go this cycle? UVA is probably the only top 10 school I can get into with GPA and LSAT (3.02 and expecting 173-178) and I definitely want to go to a top 10 school if I end up going to Law School, but I'm not 100% sure I want to go to law school at all yet. If I apply as ED and get accepted, what happens if I want to wait until next cycle and enroll for Fall 2012? Is that fine?

May I defer my enrollment?

Should you wish to postpone entry into the School of Law, you have two options.

If you are reasonably certain that you will enroll at the University of Virginia in August 2012, you may request to defer your admission by making all required acceptance deposits, confirming your intention to accept your place in the class, and requesting a deferral at that time. Deferred applicants agree not to hold a place in another law school’s entering class, or to apply to other law schools, during the deferral term. We will ask you to reconfirm your intention to enroll in early 2013. Financial aid commitments typically cannot be deferred to a subsequent year, since awards of need-based assistance will require an updated needs analysis for the 2013-14 academic year. Merit-based assistance may be deferred on a case-by-case basis. All deferral requests must be received by the second deposit deadline.

If you do not wish to make a commitment to attend the University of Virginia, you may elect simply to decline your offer of admission and reapply for the next academic year. While we cannot guarantee your admission, we do give substantial weight to a commitment made in a previous year. Having declined an offer of admission will not be a disadvantage in the process. Candidates reapplying for admission will be asked to complete a new application form, submit an updated personal statement, and, in the case of applicants who had not completed undergraduate school at the time of the initial application, submit a new LSDAS report that includes grades earned in the final year of study.

I requested to be deferred by one year. It was granted very quickly, and I get to keep my scholarship.

No problem. :)

I don't think getting a deferral should be an issue. They've been overenrolled for the last few cycles, and I heard that last year they were actually offering people scholarship money if they agreed to defer.

Thanks! I searched and found that you need to get the deferral request in by the second deposit deadline (June 15, 2010). I'm assuming I have to pay both deposits if I decide to defer. Correct me if I'm wrong.
