No, not yet. I'm exactly the same as you are. Haha actually I've checked here a couple times over the past couple days to see if you had found out since our ED forms were processed around the same time. I don't think it should be read into that we haven't heard. There's any number of reasons why it's taking longer than 4 hours to receive notice.wildcathighfive wrote:sherpa, have you heard anything yet? i'm so antsy. i recognize that it's awesome that uva has such quick turnaround but i'm spoiled by everyone else hearing in less than like 5 minutes.

haha i've been checking to see if you've heard too! i know, i'm really trying not to read into it...i was being a little stressed to my dad about it on the phone last night, and he was like "you need to calm down. if nothing else, it might mean that they're THINKING ABOUT IT."sherpaorlawschool wrote:No, not yet. Based on your TLS posts, you seem like a very nice person. Sorry to hear about UVA.Ildeuce wrote:Eh, waitlisted. So am I released from my ED contract?
If you are up for it, I think you should retake the LSAT. Scoring in the high 160s leads me to believe you can score in the 170s, and after seeing you waitlisted with a high GPA confirms that Virginia is clearly interested in high LSAT candidates. Even if you don't attend UVA, the boost in the LSAT could lead to significantly more merit-based scholarship money.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
I am testing that theory as I am a high LSAT scorer still waiting to hear. All this talk of people hearing back in a day or two or a few hours has me worried since my ED form was processed Wednesday. Gotta wait it out until next week though who knows.Long Live Jacox wrote:Based on your TLS posts, you seem like a very nice person. Sorry to hear about UVA.Ildeuce wrote:Eh, waitlisted. All of you already got acceptances. I don't take the LSAT till Oct, which means my app won't be complete till Nov.1. Maybe UVA will have their entire class filled by 11/1...based on all you people who state you have gotten acceptance letters.
Should I even bother applying ED. By Nov there will be no spots left, right?

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Dumb question - but what's the best way to refer to UVA in the essays? I've been using the "University of Virginia School of Law" because it is the official name, but it seems too damn wordy. Would "Virginia Law" or just "The University of Virginia" be acceptable substitutes?

Re: UVA Class of 2014
I used "U.Va. Law" even though I was advised it sounded bad. That is how the dean abbreviated UVA in the email he sent me so I imagine it will be alright. If I had the space I would've used Virginia Law instead but I was right at a page even with hacking off numerous things I wanted to keep. Of course spell out the entire official name the first time and then throw whatever your chosen abbreviation is in parenthesis beside it.YCrevolution wrote:I'd use Virginia Law.nyk3 wrote:Dumb question - but what's the best way to refer to UVA in the essays? I first used 'the University of Virginia Law School School of Law,' then mixed in 'Virginia Law,' 'UVA Law,' and just plain 'Virginia,' such that it was not repetitive. Think I used 'Virginia' the most in the end.
Edit: Messed up 'Law School' v. 'School of Law' this time, but it was correct on my Why Virginia; I checked the website before submitting.

Damn, I wrote Law School. If I get dinged now I know why . Maybe they'll let it slide when I send in my ED contract.sundance95 wrote:Haha, yeah sorry for any confusion. For anyone who hasn't submitted yet, use U.Va instead of UVA by the way.
Everything the school publishes has the former.
