And with that news, I can add my recommendation that the incoming class not look up the grade spread of the Professors in their section.
I followed this recommendation. Another of our merry band immediately checked them all.

In an effort to go against any and all recommendations, how would one go about checking their professors' grade spread?

There's a binder in the Student Records Office, right across from where the section lists are posted. There's also the same binder in the library reserve room, where all the DVDs and stuff are.

So what's the concern? That if you discover 80% of the class get a B+ you might not try harder, or if you discover that 20% get C's you might be terrified?

I'm not sure what you would adjust based on the knowledge of grade spread.

Mostly C stuff, yeah. A lot of professors don't give any C-level grades, but some do, and that can cause some intense worry among students. But the courses with more Cs are easier to get As in, so it's a tradeoff.

The only thing I saw come out of looking at the grade spread was either apathy or stress later in the semester over the fact that this Professor or that Professor gave out C's. It honestly just doesn't matter. You'll get what you get - and as a PA told me once, you'll know when you've written a C/C+ exam anyway.

It's not that big of a deal, really. See it if you want - I just don't know what you can really gain from it.

Go to the Virginia Law website and click on the "Students" tab. There's a link to the LawWeb login on the right side of the page. You should have received your login information already through e-mail.

In theory you would adjust your study based on the standard deviation of the grades, but in practice that's prettttty hard to do (especially first semester when you're still figuring out how to take a law school test). I mostly adjusted my study based on how interesting I found the class.

I recently lost all affection and nostalgia for my supplements. If you want the Glannon Civ Pro E&E, a Civ Pro In A Nutshell book, and the Criminal Law Low supplement, PM me. I'll sell the Civ Pro one's together for five bucks and the Low one for five bucks. Might change my mind and just give them to you for free when I come to drop them off. I'd rather just have them off my hands at this point, but I'd like to get something for it so I can still claim I'm a capitalist of sorts.

Edit: Claimed.

I have the Civ Pro E&E, the Torts E&E, Abraham's Torts supplement, and Chirlestein's Contracts supplement. I'll part with them for $5 each.

Treatises - $20 - some highlighting, might not be most recent edition, but still in really good shape and edition shouldn't matter for these.

Prosser & Keeton, Torts

Calameari and Perillo on Contracts

Friedenthal, Kane & Miller, Civil Procedure

LaFave, Criminal Law

-------------------

Peter Low, Criminal Law Outline - $5 - (this is the author of your crim casebook, and goes pretty well with the material).

Torts E&E - $5 - some highlighting, but overall in good shape

Chirelstein Contracts - $5 - some highlighting, probably my favorite 1L supplement

Abraham Tort Law - $5 - some highlighting, pretty helpful for Torts.

PM me. First come, first served.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
