For perspective, Arlington is about 1/3 mile from the law school. Ivy about 0.4 miles walking or 1.5 miles by car. U-Hall is about 0.6 miles - or about ten minutes walking distance.gladiator wrote: 4. If you don't get a parking pass for near the law school, you can get one for the U-Hall lot which sucks because it's either a bus ride or long walk from the law school.

Really? For some reason I thought that it was earlier -- this saves me from the early trip I thought that I would have to make.thelawyerguy wrote:I think orientation begins August 22 next year.turkeysub wrote:So the Jeffersonian apartment applications are up and both of the lease dates they put up are kind of inconvenient. August 16th is the same day orientation starts which would be hectic I think and June 1st is more than two months before school starts. They do have a box for "other" lease dates so I was wondering if any current students on here had any experience with getting another date.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Joining the "I'm looking for a roommate" fray.
I'm a female, and I graduated in May, so I'll be one year out of undergrad by the time we start school. I'd like to be in the Jeffersonian. I'm pretty neat and quiet (as in I don't really listen to loud music, not as in I don't know how to have a conversation), and ideally, my roommate would be the same.
PM me if I sound like a tolerable housemate!

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Sorry if this has been discussed, I scanned like 30 pages before giving up.
I see that the best places to be are Ivy Gardens/Jeffersonian/etc on Arlington. A few questions:
1. Do most people stick around after 1L? If not, where do they go? I'm really sick of moving every year..
2. When do you have to apply to have a good shot at getting into these places? I know for UVA undergrad you had to apply in like October or you were SOL lol.
3. Anyone know offhand which are pet-friendly? I don't see anything on the Ivy Gardens website about it.
Thanks a lot!

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Thanks! More obscure question, but if you do apply at the Jeffersonian, do you have to sign a lease? Or just pay some kind of deposit? Aka, if I am PRETTY sure I want to come to UVA, but a few (unlikely) situations could sway me later on, can I apply anyway?YCrevolution wrote:1. A lot of people stay wherever they were 1L year. 2. Jeffersonian: Jan. 01 (first day to submit applications); Ivy Gardens: You should still have a good pick in March.
3. Jeffersonian allows cats and small dogs; Ivy Gardens does not allow pets.

Jumping in to see if anyone is willing to humor me with the relative merits of Jeffersonian versus Ivy. I know Jeffersonian is a bit closer/less expensive but is it the better choice? I don't need to live in the lap of luxury, but its important to me to have a clean and generally pleasant place to live.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
i think YCR covered this when he said the jeffersonian had less parties + ivy was much bigger, but i feel obliged to throw out there that ivy has gotta be far and away the biggest social hub out of all of the standard 1L housing options. if that's your thing, it's probably a great choice.

Hello
Waiting on the Dec LSAT for scholarship considerations. It was a lot more fun taking it when there was no real pressure.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Ya, ED accepted in early November. I had a 165 and couldn't take another 2 months of LSAT induced pressure, so I applied ED to UVA and figured I'd just take the Dec LSAT without further studying hoping that I would do better without all the self induced nerves from October. I don't know how it will affect scholarship considerations, but if I were above the 75 percentiles in both GPA/LSAT, it sure would help my case at the very least. We shall see though.AssumptionRequired wrote:? accepted ED/RD and just re-took to see if they will give you money? or whatWhatsawahooanyway wrote:Hello

YCR-- thanks!! that was exactly what I needed to hear. I'll turn in an application for the Jeffersonian right away. I'm no social butterfly (more like a social pariah, really) so I think I'll be just fine with the relative lack of social offerings.

Does anyone know when they're going to put up the tuition costs for our class? What are the chances it'll surpass 50K/yr for next year?

Yup. Did you receive an email from them confirming the receipt of your application? I haven't received anything and assume I will in the next few days.

I put in an application at 12:03. Party was at my place so was easy to just click send.
Also haven't gotten a response but I wasn't expecting one. It's a holiday and a weekend.
