My boyfriend is a 1L there so I'll be staying with him, guess that counts as "bringing" someone?

TLSers, which Preview Weekend are you going to?

ETA: Guys, don't RSVP for people who aren't you. It's douchey, and that's not the Michigan spirit! Or something.

Woud it be possible for anyone to create a google document that indicates which PW people are attending?

I'd love to take the initiative, but...
1) I don't know how to do that.
2) my work blocks any google document/gmail access
3) I have the worst luck when it comes to technology

That would be great. Thanks in advance!

I'll do that!

Also, going to ASW #1! Just registered!!

Okay so I'm taking someone's advice and made it a form! (HOW FANCY)

Also flying from NYC. It's not so bad I think? kayak has it at $250 roundtrip if you fly out of LaGuardia. Anybody potentially interested on sharing rides from Detroit?

Also, that chart is fcking awesome. I spend all day working with people who struggle to figure out how to move from cell to cell in Excel. This is a lovely breath of fresh air.

I flew from DTW to LaGuardia around the holidays and think that I managed to squeeze in just under the $250 mark. I've seen flights as low as $175 (albeit, at weird times of the year). Doesn't seem that bad.

Yeah! us NYCers should try and coordinate flights so we can share rides to/from the airport

I'd be looking at a $450 flight, probably $80-100 getting to AA and back to the airport, and an additional $40 to stay for two nights. With no travel stipend, I'm afraid I'll have to miss this one. The jog with Dean Z sounded so fun! Everyone take tons of pictures!

Are you coming alone? You can get from DTW much cheaper than that. (Many people share cabs or take a shuttle.)

Edit: Apparently 1L has erased all memory of last year...

Are you coming alone? The hotel is free for you during ASW and you can get from DTW much cheaper than that. (Many people share cabs or take a shuttle.)

Hotel is free?

I looked up flights today.. $200. <3 Baltimore!

I was thinking it was last year...maybe it wasn't? Couldn't have been very expensive as I have no recollection of it.

Edit: I vaguely recall paying something to the school before hand. Seriously though, spare the $80 to check out a school you'll be paying $45K+ a year to.

Also, you can get cheaper than that from BWI sometimes. Especially if you can play with the days. I think I flew last time for like $120.

Eh, the days are pretty fixed for me due to work, but I'll definitely keep an eye out then. How long in advance did you buy, if you remember at all? Thanks!

I just registered for ASW #1! The excitement is sort of tainted by having just dropped a hard-earned $300 on the ticket, but then, that's irrational given what I'm getting myself into, right? (But how can Spirit Air get away with charging extra for your SEAT? Am I missing something?)

Will add myself to the spreadsheet, Dulc! See everyone there!

Flying in to Michigan is expensive because it is in the middle of nowhere. If it's cheaper, you can fly in to Chicago. From there you can take a 3 hour amtrak ride to ann arbor, for relatively cheap. It's not the most convenient, but neither is landing at DTW. In fact, Chicago -> amtrak is probably more convenient for those without a car/local connections or who don't plan on renting a car. Amtrak goes right to downtown ann arbor.

I had an airline do this last year, the idea was they charged to have a 'reserved seat' (ie. 15a, an aisle seat!) or something of that sort. the remainder of the passengers got random seats upon boarding.

Not sure if this is the same situation but it could be!
