Would it be totally weird if I forced my family to buy me this as a 'Welcome to UMich Law' present?

It would be difficult to find a reason that would make requesting something from Zingerman's weird.

Classic day shift TLS vs. night shift TLS!

You guys, I can't stop looking at apartment listings on craigslist; it's all so cheap compared to DC! What do folks think they're going to do for housing? I can't decide if I want to move into an established group house (with no more than 2 or 3 roommates), hold out for a spot in the grad student co op, move into a two bedroom (met a couple people at ASW that I think might be interested in being roomies), or move into a one bedroom (I've never lived by myself, but I'm intrigued by the idea, especially for 1L).

tl;dr: WHICH HOUSE SHOULD I TAAAAKE??

ETA: Maybe this is a good thing? Reduced cost smoking cessation products, free counseling, and less incentive to use smoking as a study break...hmmm...

I mean yeah quitting is never a bad thing but that kinda stuff actually makes me want to smoke. At least it is just a short walk to the sidewalks I guess.

Goddammit, RJ, anarchists are not collegial! You're going to get us kicked out of school before we even have a chance to start!

Ehh IDK, they can be. You have to have a really strong belief and trust in the good of people if you want to be an anarchist. I’ve flirted with the idea but came to the realization that people, as they are, could not function in an anarchist society.

I'm also interested in this discussion. It seems the easiest route is the LC, but living in a house/apartment would offer quality living over convenience .

All I want is an off-campus apartment with in-unit washer and dryer, parking, within walking distance to the law quad, that allows dogs and has a little charm maybe a working fireplace. Is that too much to ask?

I randomly met a real estate developer who works out of AA (I live in Florida). He said he has commercial and residential property all around the campus, I could give him a call and see what is available.

You can have all of that at Harbor House if you sacrifice walking distance to law quad. I make it here in <15 min on bus...which is free.

I'm intrigued...tell me more?

ETA: Oh, hm, found it. This is an option, though I would Really prefer a furnished place since I'm coming from a group house and so don't own much furniture of my own.

I get free underground parking, fireplace, dishwasher, lots of green for my dog, etc. Community is quiet...all working professionals. Close to the mall, convenient to highway, not a ton of traffic. We also have a newly renovated gym, hot tub, and swimming pool should you be here in the summer.

The #7 (every 30 min-1hr) bus runs from front door but have to transfer to get to LS or walk .6 mile. (I do take it downtown when I am just going out as it runs straight to downtown. If I stay out past when it stops running, a cab is like $8.) To get to school, I currently drive the 1 mile around the block to the free state st park & ride. There, the #36 bus runs every 9-12min all day long straight to the LS.

Edit: Lake Village is also very nice. Newer and if you can get a back building you can walk across the parking lot to where the #36 bus picks up in the park & ride. I know a few people who live there and love it.

Edit 2: Woodbury is also decent although it isn't as quiet as Lake Village/Harbor House and their gym sucks....no free weights or even room to do sit-ups.
