It's accurate. I have heard of it b4 from Mich undergrads, but I thought it was only for UGs and only for in-state Tribes.
Apparently I was wrong!

Technically. I am 1/4 through my mother's side but not part of the tribe though I am eligible. I have avoided applying strictly for the benefits so far but it looks like that doesn't matter as long as you have enough NA heritage. It says you have to be a Michigan resident but maybe I'll be able to get residency. Thanks for posting that!

You need to have lived in Michigan for 12 months
so worst case scenario you could apply next year
You do need the Tribe to confirm your heritage. You could easily write a letter to your Tribe explaining the situation. Although I highly encourage you to apply for membership to your Tribe. You can decline any per-capita distribution if you choose. I don't know what Tribe you are but...
well you can just PM me if you want.

I think someone on the Michigan 2011 forum said that this is a mistake and they won't actually go out till January. But I guess you can always hope =)

"Funny, I just called them and they said there had been a glitch in the system. They said that no letters were going to be mailed until after break but that if I didn't receive something by the first wednesday in January then i should call them."

So, here's the deal for folks who have the Scholarship Award Letter in the status checker:

Your letter hasn't been set yet, but you will get one. The glitch isn't erroneous as far as the award is concerned - just the sent date. This is per the admissions office. It sounds like the first week of January is when the letters will drop.

Haha that's a weird message to send since I got in a month ago and already sent in a deposit! I got nervous for a bit thinking they were gonna tell me it was all a mistake and I hadn't actually gotten in

Oh, that IS weird. I got the same email, but only about a week after I got my packet. I guess they didn't cross-reference accepted students who had already put down their deposits!
