So, I'm thinking about taking the year off because I have some unexpected issues to deal with that I think will affect me academically. I already got accepted as a transfer to a school. If I don't want to go there this year, can I reapply somewhere else for next year and take the year off to study.

What exactly are you studying for if you're taking the year off? Is this the same question about transferring to SMU from USD? This question is kind of weird to me.
