Well, I guess that means it's over. Guess we can dispel the belief that transferring is all a numbers game.

How would this cycle dispel this belief? Naturally some people with great stats aren't going to get in just by a function of the number of applicants and the amount of spots schools have, but that doesn't mean it's still not generally still a numbers game.

I'm just saying that it's hard to believe it's a total numbers game when people that are in the top 5% of T1 schools didn't get accepted while people in the top 5% at T2 or T3 schools were.

Doesn't make much sense if it's a total numbers game.

I was accepted first round at CLS last year, but not at NYU first round last year, and CLS is statistically more grade selective than NYU for transferring. I think transferring is just becoming more common, and CLS knows that a top 5% at a T1 or T2 is going to perform the same at CLS, so they may be focusing more on other qualities of an applicant. This is how transferring into HYS has historically been. (more qualified applicants than slots, so softs and personality become more significant factors)

I'm just salty. Thought Top 1% at a T1 would get me in. It seems it didn't.

Personality definitely would have gotten me in but they can't really tell that through an application.

After this disappointment, I'm done with law school. Time for dance school.

Personal statement strikes again!

In my personal statement I told them I wanted to work in public service, and their generous LRAP was a major factor in my decision to apply.

Top 1% at T1 still puts you in a great position at your current school, Lawman.

Damn it. I shouldn't have told them about my plans to quit the law for interpretive dance in my personal statement.

I'll be okay. My ego just took one heck of a beating this cycle.

But there are plenty of positives. Spared me from having to make a hard choice and I don't have to leave all the friends I've made behind. :D

Nebby, to be clear, is that to actually suggest that that's it? From what I remember their website indicates 45-60 matriculate.

And Lawman, have you been officially rejected?

Thanks y'all. If there is still a chance, good luck to everyone.

Nah. I'm just being a salty pessimist.

Yes, by mail and dated Jul 28. The ding letter was postmarked the same day they acknowledged receipt of a LOCI so... maybe they didn't like something I said?

Nah. Probably just done accepting people. I'm sure I'll get mine in the next week or so. Don't know why they don't just send out a mass email.

After numerous unanswered emails and over a month of waiting, I finally got dinged via snail mail. Obviously knew it was coming..actually thankful they finally sent it to me...Columbia is by far the worst school I've ever dealt with (admissions wise).

Got my ding letter as well. Still think it's BS. But I'll do just fine where I'm at and I don't have to give up my group of friends. So they probably did me a favor.

90 percent of the time, you'll be just fine where you're at currently (and usually with far less debt).
