Can you tell how many people you've sent out an invite to, though?Nebby wrote:As of right now there are only 25ish students in the Transfer FB page. I'm surprised it's this low at the moment. I also have been complete for almost a month. Who knows, but it is very frustrating.

FWIW, this Columbia kid at my internship bragged about how he organized efforts to protest admitting a "large" transfer class. Perhaps it's paying off.

Yeah, he's full of shit. This never occurred. Unless by "organized effort" he means "I once sent an email to admissions; they never responded."makerbreaker wrote:FWIW, this Columbia kid at my internship bragged about how he organized efforts to protest admitting a "large" transfer class. That's mostly made up. Re: Columbia Transfer 2015
This sucks. Columbia was the one school I felt confident about. With EIP, it wasn't a hard decision. Now it is. I don't get it. I feel like I should be in with my stats. I'm starting to feel like I insulted the kid of a Dean or something and I've been blackballed.

This is by far the weirdest transfer cycle for both CLS and NYU that I have seen on TLS. I've looked at all the other year's threads and nothing this year seems to be consistent with the past.

Re: Columbia Transfer 2015
I will say that last year might not be representative; the incoming C/O 2016 was smaller than anticipated, so they took more transfers, whereas C/O 2017 had a stronger field and was larger than anticipated, so it may balance with a slightly smaller transfer class.
Regardless, with the great grades you guys have I'm sure you have other strong transfer options or you could do very well from your current schools, don't get hung up on any one or two.

*CLS accepted neebles*
*one year later*
"Holy fuck we need to cut our transfers in half to weed out dweebs like this guy."
In all seriousness, JDBagel is correct. I'm sure y'all have other options, and I hope they work out for the best. I highly recommend, if you're accepted to CLS next week, that you don't come if you want BigLaw, because getting on the schedule for a firm the morning of interviews is incredibly difficult (unless you want to interview at a bunch of secondary offices, which are a pain to get a CB from unless you're from there--most of the time).

Re: Columbia Transfer 2015
The odd thing isn't that they've taken so few transfers, it's that they haven't seemed to have accepted people thus far based on stats. I'm not trying to belittle anyone who got in, they all did very well. But there are multiple people still waiting that have better stats than almost everyone I've seen get in so far. Which made me think they were accepting people in order of application. But now that doesn't seem likely haha.Nebby wrote:*CLS accepted neebles*

Thanks for the advice. I'll be very happy at my current school but Columbia offered firms I don't have access to here. Namely, Proskauer Rose and they are the firm I really want to work for. Unfortunately, it seems that shot might be gone. Will just have to hustle and find another way in.In all seriousness, JDBagel is correct. Appreciate you guys posting in here to cheer all of us up!

If it helps, Proskauer is the top bidded firm every year (I have no idea why), so there was a low chance of getting them, even if you did make the bid deadline, haha.

Re: Columbia Transfer 2015
Glad to see I'm not the only one who 's preplexed. Only applied to two schools because they were the only place I'd really want to go, but looks like I'll get neither (granted, H was a Hail Mary).
Oh well. I'm at a "T1" in a region that I like with a significant scholarship, so I'll be ok. Hope you guys also have good options! So much for transfers apps being a total number game
