Re: UChicago Transfer Thread 2015
My app for RD was completed yesterday and is now under review. Anyone been invited for an interview for RD? Do they interview everyone?

For those who interviewed, did you get a sense of their decision timeline?

Complete and submitted for review as of today. I was waiting on my class rank: 10% at a T1; 3.8 gpa. I'd say that based upon past numbers I have a slim chance, but I do have strong ties to the area (went to junior high and high school in Chicago and enlisted there as well).

Wait, slim chances when you are in the top 10% at a T1? Not sure what data you were looking at but you are in a strong position.

For reals. Either you are selling yourself short or, and I can't blame you for this, delving in reverse psychology.

Re: UChicago Transfer Thread 2015
My current school is in that four way tie for 42 which puts it closer to a T2. I would imagine that in order to really lock in Chicago, I needed to be closer to the top 5%.bmmccb223 wrote:Wait, slim chances when you are in the top 10% at a T1? I wish the data either tied gpa to the school (so that I could confirm a higher gpa is needed for a lower school and whether there is a disparity within the tiers such that someone from Emory could have a lower gpa than someone from George Mason) or included a median rank of the selected applicants; but without that, I'm really guesstimating.
I hope you are right, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Median rank on the aba disclosures would be infinitely more helpful than 1L gpa.

It would also be helpful to see one column for ED and one for RD. Anecdotal evidence suggests that ED is slightly easier. If that is true, lower gpas from ED would bring down overall numbers and deflate the necessary gpa for RD.

Re: UChicago Transfer Thread 2015
I guess I've always read that ED is harder because your stats need to be good enough that they would keep you even if you don't match your performance or do better. But I guess it also shows your interest in being there and committing so it could be a wash.Cerberaus wrote:It would also be helpful to see one column for ED and one for RD. Re: UChicago Transfer Thread 2015
I know one person who was accepted to Chicago ED. This person had first semester grades that would have put him in the top 10%; however, his second semester grades placed him well out of the top 10% (15-20%). Nevertheless, he still matriculated into Chicago and is likely recorded on their stats with the year end gpa rather than the first semester gpa.sandwhich wrote:I guess I've always read that ED is harder because your stats need to be good enough that they would keep you even if you don't match your performance or do better. If the above is not an isolated case, it could have an impact on Chicago's numbers and show a lower gpa requirement than what is actually necessary. I may be overanalyzing here.

Re: UChicago Transfer Thread 2015
My application wasn't complete until today because my school would not send in the requirements until last minute. Obviously, I have not received an invitation to interview yet. Does anyone have any idea what my chances are?
