Transfer from ND to Northwestern?
Tough situation right now.
Top 20%-ish at ND with a half scholarship. Pretty unlikely that they'll budge if I try to negotiate. Accepted at Northwestern, would have to pay full tuition obviously. Career goals are corporate biglaw, then who knows.
Should I go?

So you're looking at $110K at Northwestern for 2 more years of tuition v. $50K at Notre Dame, or something like that?

I'm looking at close to $150K at NW, probably around $75K at ND.

Double the debt for roughly a 26% increased chance at landing biglaw? Is there anyway you can dig up information on how transfers fare at Nw OCI?

Trying to dig up that information now. If transfers do well, is it worth the jump?

Re: Transfer from ND to Northwestern?
It looks like you have a pretty good shot at biglaw considering your ranking at ND. Did you already try to leverage the Nw acceptance for more scholarship money? If you're biglaw or bust then I'd certainly say transfer. If not, and you're alright with the geographical placement for ND then I'd stay.Anonymous User wrote:Trying to dig up that information now. Didn't apply because I didn't think I had a chance at Chicago.

Re: Transfer from ND to Northwestern?
It is a tough call, my sense is that ND does reasonably well in Chicago Biglaw placement, so if top 20% ND means a better than coin toss chance at Big law I don't think the 10-15% improvement in chances is worth the difference in debt.
