I know it's a bit early since applications aren't released for two weeks, but figured it might be helpful to have a thread where people could discuss their chances and whether they'll do ED or not.
Application Released: April 15
Application Deadline: May 15
Decision rendered in May (basically before June)
From the website:
Early Decision transfer applicants must ensure that we have received their application and all supporting materials, including a law school transcript containing all first-year, first-semester grades and the Law School Information Form, by May 15, 2014. Second semester law school grades are not required to apply under the Early Decision program. Early Decision transfer applicants will receive a decision from the Law School in May. Early Decision acceptances are binding on the applicant, which means that, if admitted, you must commit to matriculating at the Law School and withdraw all other transfer applications at other law schools. If you apply Early Decision, you may not apply to any other law school through a binding early decision or early action program.
All applicants accepted under the Early Decision program will be required to submit a law school transcript containing their final first-year law school grades. All offers of admission made under the Early Decision transfer program are contingent upon the Law School's receipt of a final first-year law school transcript demonstrating consistent performance and successful completion of one full year of study at an ABA-accredited law school.
Good luck everyone!

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to apply early decision or not. My number one choice is Berkeley but I don't know if I'll get into Berkeley or UChicago and I think ED would boost my chances.
I'm top 6% at UW Madison. For the summer I'll be externing with a Bankruptcy judge.

Yeah to be honest i'll be surprised if we end up having to wait until late May...I've heard that transfer apps are much more "rolling" than regular J.D. apps. I'm not sure if being ED applicants will change that, but i can't imagine that they wait to make decisions until May 15th and scramble to make all those decisions in two weeks.

I do not see the Early Decision option, only the regular decision. Am I missing something ... ?

My Stats:
Class Rank: 7/25X
School: T4
Extracurriculars: Moot Court, Federal Agency Internship, Research Assistant for Dean of Int'l Progs.
Ethnicity: Puerto Rican
Undergrad: Politics + Philosophy Major; Top 5 School for Philosophy in the Nation, Top 10 in World, Wrote my thesis for one of the most well-known current epistemologists
Anyone think these stats have a chance? These softs seem pretty nice, the hards are decent, but the school itself is very low tier.

I'm not sure your undergrad background will be relevant unless you stated your intent to go for a JD/Ph.D or something. I don't think any of us can say for sure how good your chances are since T4 to CCN is a big leap, but IMO, if anyone has a chance to do it, it'll be candidates like you (like top 5% at least)

Same! This is really exciting - giving me that extra motivation to study for my con law final on Friday. Also, it seemed like they didn't start reviewing applications last year til after the ED deadline. This is awesome.

Been lurking for awhile. I also applied T30 <5% and updated 4/29
It seems that statistics for ED acceptances are pretty sparse. Do you think being from Chicago will make much of a difference? I saw that someone from the 2012 ED class was a Loyola student, I'd like to hear whether being in the area makes much of an impact.

me and helpplease have been updated at identical dates, and it looks like we submitted at the same time. I'm guessing they do this in waves like they do for normal JD apps? Just compile applications into groups and then move them from one phase to another in the order that they received them.

Any updates? I doubt we'll hear anything soon since the app deadline is at the end of this week, but maybe the week of the 19th? I finished the semester last week so waiting on this decision has basically become my life.
