Does anyone know how much financial aid yale transferees usually receive? Anyone else who got in yesterday already get a financial aid offer? I'm at a T20 with $60k of scholarship left over 2 years, and that's hard to walk away from.

yea this is incredibly silly (sorry). 60K over 2 years wouldnt be nearly enough to dissuade me from going to Yale. Yale is such a unique opportunity. if you need the money, yale will have the need aid.

I am also in at Yale from mid t14 (got into Harvard too and declined). Right now ranked #1 in class. Would have $40K in debt if I stay, and more like $80K if I go. Probably some of you are in a similar situation.

Money is a fairly important factor, but I understand that it is not the biggest deal at the end of the day. But what about how transferring would affect clerkship opportunities for the year right after graduation? Given that interviews may begin right after the new year, part of me thinks that staying and keeping the relationships and position in the class makes sense.

Thoughts?

If you maintain #1 at a mid T14, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. With that being said, Yale has the most clerkship placements, by far. You also have to consider LR options when transferring. I don't think $40k additional debt should dissuade you from heading off to Yale. You're in a position where you have to decide between two amazing options.

Thanks.

I found this discussion to be helpful (at least until it got into the lay prestige nonsense).

As an FYI: I don't know if you have biglaw aspirations, but there have been at least a few "top-5% or better at T14 to Yale" TLSers who almost uniformly report having lackluster OCI results because (correctly or not) firms think you transferred from such a good position to Yale just to increase your shot at academia.
