Rank vs. GPA

Postby psach44 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 11:48 pm

Getting pretty annoyed with my school's policy not to release actual ranks but just percentile bands.

Do the admissions office recognize that someone with a very high GPA is well above top 10% even without an exact rank?

I just feel as if this process is slanted. If a school represents one way it might tip the scale whereas another might not...

is the school 'bozo? b/c, ya, you're probably dead in the water.

and schools probably have enough data points over the years to make inferences. this is their job after all
