LRW Letter of Rec

I noticed on the admissions spreadsheet every one has a letter from their LRW prof listed? Is this necessary? I got two letters from substantive class professors. I made an A- and an A in my two semesters of LRW band the prof has offered to write for me before. I didn't think of her, becasue I figure two from the substantive professors -- one of whom has a strong national reputation -- would be better. Should I add a third letter?

transfer. Just noticed on the numbers spreadsheet almost everyone submitted a latter from their LRW prof. I'm wondering if there's any advantage to this or is just because its easy.

Transferred in the 2011 cycle and did not have a letter from LRW prof. The rule is: target the profs that will write the best letter (with the assumption that grades are good across the board).

I was not a transfer, but usually your LRW prof will know you better than profs in larger, one-semester classes, so will have more detailed things to say about you. I doubt there's any other benefit.

I was lucky to get to know two professors from substantive classes well through Office Hours and such. My LRW prof knows me well too but I think the two professors I have writing for me will have more influence.

frankly, neither would be more influential. your numbers will dictate everything. minus some LOR slandering you, its more just a formality.

How do target schools decide between candidates with similar/identical numbers from peer schools? Not everyone with numbers in the school's range gets an acceptance.

resume is probably most important. the only stat you affect is employment %s.
