I was the same; I wanted big law in either Philly or NYC. I, along with all of my fellow transfers, were able to get biglaw (every single one who wanted it). I don't think anyone struggled to get into any market and certainly not NYC. I don't know a lot about how W&M places in New York or Philly, so I don't know how much your career aspirations will imrpove. But, I can certainly tell you that you'd do just fine here. I was at a T2, but I'm pretty sure the firm I am at would not have hired me from my prior school.forestgirl wrote:Biglaw in NYC (or maybe Philly). Thanks Miles and Lyon-- agreed.

who are all the 6/28 ppl out there? any theories? they've had more than enough time to ding or accept us. My second review date was 6/28 so two members have looked at my app.
edit: I feel like there was absolutely 0 advantage to applying early to all of these schools.

I'm a 6/28'er. Maybe they're expecting to be able to accept us soon, and they're just waiting on that. That's all I have.Lyonsoccer87 wrote:who are all the 6/28 ppl out there? any theories? they've had more than enough time to ding or accept us. Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
Does anyone have a sense of how Penn places on the West Coast (specifically SF) as compared to Michigan's placement in SF? I've heard conflicting things. The placement numbers obviously dont account for how many students from each school attempt to enter the SF market, just how many actually end up there--so I'm quite willing to hear anecdotal evidence.
My top markets are SF and NYC and my current working assumption (for biglaw) is:
SF: Mich>Penn
NYC: Penn>Mich
Thoughts?

I don't think my sanity can make it past another weekend. I just hope we hear something today or at least tomcanesfan1986 wrote:I'm a 6/28'er. +1000000! This is ridiculous. I can't believe I haven't been accepted to ONE yet. I also can't stop clicking refresh on the status checker. Damn this process.Lyonsoccer87 wrote:I don't think my sanity can make it past another weekend. I just hope we hear something today or at least tomcanesfan1986 wrote:I'm a 6/28'er. Thank you man. I hope so! What are you preferences as to where you want to go? Are you just going to go to the highest-ranked school you get into?mileslibertatis wrote:Canesfan you are soon to follow me!

I'm a 6/28er too. It's officially making me crazy. Penn is now first choice.Lyonsoccer87 wrote:who are all the 6/28 ppl out there? any theories? they've had more than enough time to ding or accept us. My second review date was 6/28 so two members have looked at my app.

My wife and I want Yale for the obvious reasons and for family/location reasons. Harvard is probably second choice followed by Stanford. I don't really know how to discriminate between CCN.

Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
Another could be that they are still evaluating the 7/9 applicants and waiting for incomplete applications to finalize by the 15th before accepting, rejecting, and waitlisting the 6/28ers, which means you could be waiting until next week.anonymous688 wrote:I'm a 6/28er too. Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
Wednesday, July 11 at 3:16 - E-mail confirming my application is complete
Thursday, July 12 at 3:45 - PHONE CALL ACCEPTANCE
Extremely, incredibly overjoyed.
Stats for those interested:
Midwest School ranked in the mid-30s
Ranked 13/185 (top 8%)
3.77 cumulative and both semesters (one A, two A-s each semester)
Honors or High Honors in all ungraded classes
Strong Philly ties (lived there until I was 6, current home is pretty close, grandparents and uncle live there)
For what it's worth, because some say it matters, I was a 177/3.23 splitter, so I would've been pretty competitive had I applied there originally

That LSAT score is insane.
Also once I confirm I am in at NYU I will withdraw from Penn, as sad as it makes me. I was kinda hoping it was the only school I got.

Got into Michigan, so I think I will no longer be quite as compulsive about hearing from Penn and NYU. Sanity restored. For a few days.
Congrats Joe!

To those still waiting, I was U/R 6/28 and was dinged this week via email. 6% t2. Hoping for some miraculous news from CLS today. Good luck.

sorry to hear that man, it was fun waiting along with you in this thread. Also, CLS and NYU were more forgiving than some lower ranked schools from what i've read last year. gluckTFR wrote:To those still waiting, I was U/R 6/28 and was dinged this week via email. 6% t2. Withdrew app, going to Duke. (no decision rendered but I expected that I was on the short list of next wavers. So hopefully one of you will get in and rock it!)
Advice on Penn, write a why penn supplement and their optionals. Penn law is an awesome school, I just could not pass up Duke and it's small class size.
