I assumed that meant that the cut off for grading on was known for their school and that they were above it---so they knew they would be on it if they stayed.concurrent fork wrote:Interesting. According to the responses, at least five people (at five different schools) were on law review as 1Ls. I've never heard of a school doing this.

A previous poster told me to put it up. I don't see how qualifying for law review benefits your chances, so I assume they are talking about actually participating.concurrent fork wrote:Interesting. Yeah that's how I read the question. Maybe some LRs have 1L subciters.drmguy wrote:A previous poster told me to put it up. Re: Did you transfer? Please input your transfer stats here
Can you try to add something to make it clear if the individual was denied from the schools applied to or withdrew after a different school accepted the applicant.
For Example:
If the graph reads "Applied To" Gtown, Mich, Minn, Boston. And then under "Accepted at" the applicant just lists "Michigan." We have no idea if the applicant withdrew at Gtown, Minn, Boston OR if they were rejected.
Thanks!

Re: Did you transfer? Please input your transfer stats here
Correct, but people measure success in different ways. Getting on law journal for me was relatively a success. Likewise, making the national moot court team also provided me with a sense of success. Finally, hypothetically of course, finishing in the top 1/3 or honors categories made me feel highly successful. Now contrast someone who made law journal and moot court team and only finished top 1/2...I still think that is success at the new school. No?keg411 wrote:I don't understand how. At most transferee schools you try out for law journal and moot court prior to getting first semester grades.Coolgrnmen wrote:Success at any school is subjective to some extent. Success at new school section - Law review/journal, moot court, rank changes, etc.
It appeals to different demographic.

For softs - consider adding a write in for other softs, pretty sure my license and regional ties are the only reason I was accepted.

I'm not a fan of "other" because it increases the likelihood that extraneous info will find its way on here.taxnstuff wrote:For softs - consider adding a write in for other softs, pretty sure my license and regional ties are the only reason I was accepted.
Region is already included.

I definitely agree. You're compilation is probably the best shot in the dark that we really have in terms of understanding the data.drmguy wrote:I am trying to convey chances in the most hopeful way possible. Added my data.
I would get a little more specific in the GPA ranges. There's probably a difference between a student from the top 7% and a top 10% at some schools and the form doesn't allow that info to be on there.

Thanks for your contribution, drmguy. This is major stuff, and no doubt took some time on your part to set it up. Wish this had been around when I was filling out transfer apps back in the day.

I'm bumping this thread in hopes that it will decrease the pre-grade transfer speculation.

Only post EDs if you aren't going to apply during the regular cycle. Also, let me know if something needs to be deleted/edited.

Re: View/Input Transfer Stats
The organization of the chart is very difficult to navigate. I recommend removing all the data for people that didn't get accepted into a top-20 school, since the overwhelming majority of people in here are looking for stats on transferring to a top-20 school.
Also, I would organize this into two different charts: (1) Those that transferred from T14 schools to SLS, HLS, and YLS; and (2) those from non-T14 schools that transferred to top 20 schools (including SLS, HLS, and YLS--it happens). You could also add a third chart that showed people that transferred between T14 schools. For those that are looking to stay at a competitively ranked school but move to a different market. Such as someone transferring from Stanford to HLS or YLS, or someone from Georgetown transferring to NYU/CLS.
Basically, so that people at certain schools can more easily find what their current situation is, and what people with similar stats transferred to what schools.
