I can't get into the student portal, but I just found on the GWLR site that the competition is in "late august."

Is this information dated?

The admission packet states June 21-25.

Just realizing that's an awfully short time for write-on. My current school gives 10 days for a 400+ page packet. And yet I am still dragging my feet because though I know it's smart to do it just in case I bomb this semester and can't transfer, I don't wanna do it. At all.
But I wonder if it's four or five days of super hell or if it's less labor intensive than at some other schools. They must know that we're all going to be in the middle of our summer internships.

I told my supervisor that I will need time off for a write on. Maybe 2 write ons.

I missed the deadline for my current school's write-on. I started but didn't have time to finish. I'll just look at it as experience for the GW write-on. I figure if my GPA dips so low that GW revokes, I have bigger issues to work on than a journal, anyway.
The good thing is that GW's write-on is Thurs-Mon, so there's always the weekend.

Did anyone ever figure out if the 3.0 requirement was for spring semester or for both semesters?

I'm really glad I haven't told people I'm transferring. Two grades back so far and I am currently below a 3.0 for spring semester.

How did that happen? I think it is spring semester. I called them and asked.

So, you called and asked and you're not certain? I wonder why they've used "cumulative" in at least two communications with me if they meant only spring - they have been less than clear about this.
I have only one grade so far, and I haven't dipped yet. My disaster civ pro exam grade is still not not in yet, though.

This semester really was a disaster - my fears were not misplaced at all. I have one grade outstanding, and so far I am just barely below a 3.0 for spring semester. Getting a B- in a 5-credit course really screws up everything. This, after getting a 3.5 last semester.
More than ever I really hope that the 3.0 gpa requirement is for the full year. Depressing as hell.

Highly doubtful that GW is gonna rescind even if you fall below 3.0 overall. GW cares about money more than anything and it has nothing to lose by letting you enroll.

Hey, i'm not too proud to go with the "nothing to lose by admitting me" theory. I like the way you think.

Was deferred EA, they accepted me after I forwarded them a transcript for this semester. I'm not sure how this happened, my rank was only in the top 35% from a lower tier 2. But hey, life is good.

I'm hoping for the same result DJ5. Top 30% at a lower T2.

How long was the turnaround from when you submitted a transcript to acceptance?

I submitted mine yesterday

Also, are you a URM?

Just checking to see how similar our stats are.

THX

Does anyone have dates for GW's OCIs, and more importantly their OCI application/registration deadlines? Thanks!

its on the application. Like July 14th is the first upload deadline... they told me that we should get access soon. Bit concerned about OCI since I am not exactly sure where I am going to go to school next year.

Congrats to the new admits!
I finally got my last grade for Spring and it saved my ass. I cleared 3.0 for Spring, so regardless of how they count the 3.0 EA requirement, I am good to go for GW this Fall. See you guys there!

Best of all, I get to erase that horrible B- from my cumulative GPA at GW, though it will suck dragging it along to OCI.

Has anyone gotten a GW e-mail address yet? I feel like I'm spending a fair amount of time trying to track down these little bits of information that were easily provided by every school that admitted me as an incoming 1L. I guess this is what it's like to be a transfer. :?

I talked to GW on the phone the other day. They are really swamped with stuff and are behind on almost everything. I wouldn't worry about it.

As a former GW transfer. I can offer a bit of advice for the writing competition. Make sure you pay extra attention to the citation exercises, not just the brief itself, they are graded very very heavily.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other transfer questions

Congrats to all of the admitted transfers! Feel free to meet other transfers (TLS and non-TLS) in the new facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/401155339925899/

Good luck with write-on! Agreed with thelawguy; focus on the table of sources. Nobody will make a phenomenal argument, but plenty will miss proper punctuation.

This looks promising for future placement. But I don't know - after my experiences with CDO at my soon to be ex school, I don't have all that much faith in career services in general.

Sent in my seat deposit. Can't wait to get back to DC.

Everyone else get the 3 emails about OCI for transfers? This actually looks pretty solid of a process, but there is so much information and research I need to do for this, which is significantly more difficult with write-on this weekend and still waiting on other transfer apps.

Overall, seems like a pretty solid OCI; definitely better than the like 6 firms that come to my home school's
