Does anyone have any hard data to back this up? I've seen the stuff on the yahoo group, but that can hardly be considered reliable data to support this claim.
As a potential I pray that this is true, but I have never seen more than anecdotal evidence to support it.
Depends on the school we are talking about. I transferred into a T6, and every single transfer I know is set with a V25 or higher firm. A few of my friends from my old school also transferred to another T6 and their stories seemed to entirely match up with mine. The transfer classes at the top few schools tend to do very well because they have the 2 things the employers care about: They will graduate with a degree from the new, higher-ranked school, and they have have sterling 1L performance (or else they wouldn't have been able to transfer into the school in the first place). Since every single transfer has both of these things, they are among the most successful subsets of students.
Again, I can only speak to the transfer experience at the NYC T6 schools, so perhaps peoples' experiences differed at other transfer schools.

not sure why, since transfer students usually do well at their new schools
They laugh at your failure to do well on a test as easy as the LSAT.
Lol, someone sort of insinuated this to me once after I transferred in, and I kinda laughed back at their failure to do well on something as easy as a law school exam (since it was just some median kid from my new school who was mad, bro). But in all seriousness, the students at my new school have been super welcoming and aside from this one kid, no one ever treated me like an outsider that didn't belong, and that really helped me integrate into the new place.

Everyone is too nice to say it to your face, but most people know that if you transferred into a T6 school, you most likely weren't smart enough to get in the old fashioned way.
Have fun having the TTTransfer on your resume for life.

Lol, let the below median whiners celebrate their superior LSAT scores. I'll celebrate taking a job out of their hands.
And of course they think my numbers weren't high enough to get me in the first place. Isn't that the entire point of transferring? (though I'm the odd exception in that I actually was admitted to a T6 during my initial admissions cycle, but didn't end up going, which is obviously atypical of most T6 transfers)
P.S. You don't list on your resume that you transferred once OCI is over. As far as anyone knows, I've been at my T6 all along.

Have you ever seen an attorney profile that included a school from which they transferred? I certainly haven't. It doesn't matter after your first job.

I mean, I guess if someone ever way down the line asked for my transcript, they would get one from each school to get all my compiled grades, but it would be so secondary to work experience, school pedigree, ability to work with clients, etc.

Considering Johan goes to Cornell, he probably also has a TTT LSAT.

It has nothing to do with money. Anyone who transfers into a school would have been thrilled to come and pay full tuition the year before as well. Thus, the incoming schools could have had 3 years of full tuition from them instead of 2.
If you don't believe the stated explanation (that the wanted to see who was actually good at law school instead of relying on LSAT/GPA), then you'll need give a better one.

Haha, you serious that he goes to Cornell? Then I hope he was joking. Because, while my classmates at my T6 are apparently laughing at my inferior intelligence, I guess both my classmates and I together can have a good chuckle at johan's. Sorry johan, you were incorrect that TTTransfer schools stay on resumes, though I guess your TTT will be on your resume for quite some time. Sorry, bro.
The fact that this kid is a 1L makes this even more lol-inducing

It has everything to do with money. Schools want as much of it as possible to fund their activities and such, schools also want to have as high of a ranking as possible. So, initially they admit as many people who fit the GPA/LSAT mold that allows them to keep their desired ranking. They can't admit the would-be transfers because they are below that GPA/LSAT line and thus would hurt the school.
So, the schools let the students fight it out and then they take the very best students from other schools and charge them full tuition for 2 years. 2 extra years of tuition + no affect of rankings = WIN for the school.

Employers beyond the first job do look at transcripts; as a result, I don't see the point of trying to hide the fact that you're a transfer by not at least having a bullet-point under your 2L/3L school. And it makes it a lot more clear why you graduated in the top 10% of your transfer school yet don't have the law review resume line (unless, of course, you managed to get on law review).
Anyway, it's pretty obviously a money + rankings thing. Anecdotally, transfers also seem to bring some socio-economic diversity to the class, but that breakdown might have just been coincidental in my class year.

This is stupid. It's all about rankings and money. Accepting them as 1Ls lowers LSAT/GPA stats. Accepting them as transfers allows for high performing students to pay full tuitioin without reporting stats.

I don't buy that every legal job I ever apply for during my life is going to ask for my law school transcripts. Whether it's only your first that does, I don't know. But I know I'm not going to be sending my law school transcripts when I'm twenty years out of school.

The fact that you transferred remains relevant for precisely the same amount of time as anything about your academics remains relevant, because the fact that you transferred does impact what your "graduated with [] honors" means. 20-years out, the fact that you graduated #1 in your class from Yale isn't going to mean anything in the face of your work product. I don't know where the line is that the academics become irrelevant, but trying to bifurcate it (transfer relevant until year X, academics relevant until year X+Y) makes no sense.

I'm not sure if you were responding to me but, if you were, I wasn't trying to bifurcate anything. I completely agree. My point was just that transcripts stop being necessary at some point. Thus, transferring stops beng relevant as well.

Cornell is a TTT.
But better than the festering TTT you transferred out of.

Top 10% 1st semester bro. Unlike your festering TTT, top 10% at Cornell (although TTT) will get me my biglawl jobz.

Not washed from your record bro. Everyone can smell the stink of UC Hastings or whatever place where you beat out a bunch of sub mental retards for your top 10% to transfer out.

Question though. I got into a T6 the first time around, and went to a T20 instead to start. How come you only got into Cornell?

3.1ish GPA and a mid January app.
My LSAT was 170+.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
