I will be sending in my $1K likely before I hear anything from GULC. I have to think that I am going to get deferred from GULC to RD.

I will certainly wait until close to the deadline to submit the $1K, though.

With that said, I will defintely be looking for a roommate down in D.C. If anyone ends up being interested, let me know. Already scoping out places . . .

I am! I have no qualms with going to GW, but I'm holding my breath for Georgetown. I probably will get deferred but I can dream.

Profs are profs, anywhere you go. There are good ones, bad ones, etc.

If by geographic reach you mean OCI prospects, then the reach is potentially national. I had CBs in NY, PA, DE, DC, VA, and CA (recall, however, that I was IP). The GW CDO website has breakdowns (I think), which should give you a better picture.

As intimated in my earlier poast, I hate how small/cramped the school is. On a related note, I hate how the library is so small. I also hate the internet connection, which is about as shoddy as a dial-up modem (I exaggerate, but it's pretty awful, with service drops/slow-ups happening daily). Finally, I hate that 3L year has to exist, but that's not GW-specific.

GW has some great "non-essential" features, however: city-location, "thirsty Thursdays" (free beer at school every Thursday for two hours), great places to eat nearby, etc.

My face after I got accepted... then realized I have to scrounge up an extra $1000 in 26 days:

It seems like the IP people do very well at GWU. Is this same success seen in "soft IP" like trademarks and copyright.

Was hoping the acceptances were only early submitters, but this proved me wrong. Oh GWU, don't you know I've been scouting housing in DC for months now?

I'm T2 3.75 Gpa no rank....submitted app on 2/29 and no response yet...

There goes that theory. All action at GW seems to happen on a Tuesday. Maybe another wave will get emailed on the 10th.

General question or specific to someone? For me, the prospects of legitimate employability seem much higher at GW than my current school coupled with the fact that I'm from the area, all of my college/high school friends live near DC, and all of my fiancee's family lives near DC too.

Job prospects are a lot better at GW than my current school (which are not terrible). I have no real scholarship at my current TT, so GW isn't WORLDS more expensive.

Hoping that as a transfer the law firms will see the GPA from the old transcript and bite.

Yeah I am going for better job prospects and trying to break out of a school that is super regional to a school that is less regional and also a stronger presence in its reason.

There are also sooo many more classes at GWU it is insane.

I am not saying that GWU is not locked into the DC area, but it is much less regional than a T2 in a secondary market.

I think the main thing I will be struggling with is whether or not it will make sense to leave my school. I have a really nice 1L summer internship that, according to the firm, will likely lead to a job as long as they like my work. I have to think that going to GW (which is not all super far from me) will not preclude me from going back to that firm. Correct assumption?

At some point you are going to have to ask.

For someone who may have a job locked in after only their 1L, it may not be worth it to transfer. If you're paying sticker, it may just be worth it to try and negotiate some scholarship money (Given you don't despise where you are).

That's what I'll be wrestling with. I'm really not even sure when I'd bring it up.
