Re: Spring Transfer to Maryland
Most top law schools have only one transfer window, and it's during 1L summer. If accepted, you transfer into the new school starting 2L fall.
Looking at Maryland's stats, it appears they do accept transfer applications for both fall and spring. However, keep in mind that 1) you can only transfer up to 32 credits and 2) you must complete a minimum of 53 credits at UM to graduate there. Basically, this means that you will have two full years remaining if you do transfer. Your graduation would be pushed back and your JD would take a minimum of 3.5 years to earn. Also, it's not clear whether you would be considered a 2L or 3L at OCI next fall, and even if you were deemed a 2L, employers might not look favorably on your unusual transcript/history.
Why do you want to transfer? It sounds like something that you could do, but that would have been better done for this fall than next spring.
