T100 transfer to T25, top 10% at T100, 2 years WE

17 screeners, 5 CB's, 2 Dings, 10 Outstanding (at least 1 ding because that interview just went beyond terribly)

I gota say, waiting for CB's is more stressful than the screener interviews.

Firm range?

Received Goodwin Procter (LA) ding via email today. That makes me 0/16 with 10 more to go. :|

Top 10% transfer w/ LR from T1 to USC/UT/UCLA range school.

Good luck on the CBs.

I need to mass mail some more and quick, but I'm knee deep in a transfer write-on competition. That probably outs my school right there.

10 pages of text, 15 pages of footnotes. 8)

Happy with my move. Still early though. Not done with all screeners.

Top 15%
T50 school

15 screeners
1 v10, 3 v50, 3 v100, and all in markets I didn't really.have access to before. Got my foot in the door and that's all I could ask.

I'm really just hoping that secondary markets take a bit longer than the usual NY/DC 24-72 hour turnaround time...

Still cautiously optimistic though. Trying to remember that it would be much much worse if I had stayed where I was...

Update: Still nothing either way. 10 screeners left. This is terrifying...

CCN transfer. OCI not going as well as I would have hoped. 20-25 screeners. One V10 rejection. One V15 CB and one V20 CB. Silence from the rest, which is a little unnerving.

Definitely not going as well as I hoped. I have a decent number of callbacks, but not a single one from what would be considered "elite" top firms. I guess I overbid, and this seems to be the sentiment amongst many in my CCN transfer class. I was top 10% at a T25 so I though the top firms would give me a shot now that I was guaranteed facetime with them. Again, I have a decent number of callbacks, but I have more from mass mails than I do from OCI, and not a single OCI CB is from a V25 firm even though I interviewed with about 10 of them.

Final (I think) stats for the callback stage. I am a transfer from a T2 school to MVP.

28 screeners. 13 CBs, 5 dings. 1 V10, 2 V50, 2 V100 CBs. 8 non-vault callbacks in secondary markets.

1 offer to-date from a non-vault in the secondary market.

T-35 to CCN. Straight through from UG.

I'll edit this later with final stats, but so far:

6 CBs (V5, V10, V15, V20, and V30 + strong regional player)
2 Dings (V5 satellite office, Shitty non V100 firm)
16 pending

T50 transfer to USC/UCLA - Top 5% + LR

19 Screeners, 9 CBs (random mix of vault firms in LA market)

Completed 5 CBs so far, dead silence.

Slightly discouraged.

I fear that this thread will not provide any insight aside from the fact that transferring is a black box and transfer OCI is an even blacker box.

T30 to T10
21 Screeners
13 Callbacks
3 offers (through 7 CB's, havent heard from the other 4, the three firms are tops in the market according to Chambers, I think Vault rankings are ridiculous)

I really believe the trick to this is ties to the market. I would say that previous work experience helps but folks without it are doing fine at my new school too (though we take a lower number of xfers than most).

I can say with absolute certainty that I would not be considering these firms if I had stayed at my old school.

Here is my one piece of wisdom to impart: don't transfer just to get a 2L summer job. Do it because you really want to be at the new school and want that school on the resume forever. Pinning the perceived success of the transfer on the results of arbitrary 20 min screening interviews is wrong headed.

CCN transfer from T25

19 CB interviews (about half through OCI and half through mass-mail)
9 of the CBs are with Vault-ranked firms

I've been on 6 CBs so far and have 2 offers, both from mid-size non Vault firms. The 9 Vault interviews are all coming up in the next few weeks.

All in all, the transfer seems like a good idea. I love the new school, the area is where I want to be, and the job search has been going well. None of my Vault CBs are the tippy-top firms, but that's not gonna down my spirits.

In my experience, neither market ties nor previous work experience has helped me at all, both of which are conventional wisdom, transfer or not.

I do agree with the last part of the post, though. I transferred solely for access to better jobs and it hasn't worked out for me at all (at least not yet). Maybe it will pay off in the end and maybe it won't. Either way, I'm pretty sure plenty of people at my old school are enjoying the schadenfreude right now.

I'm glad other transfers are doing well overall; however, realizing your personality sucks and you don't pass the "likeability" test isn't something fun to be going through when trying to adjust to a totally new place.

T50 to USC/UCLA. Top 10% + LR.

26 screeners
0 callbacks
0 offers

I know people in a similar position at my old school who did fine. Am I regretting the transfer? Yes.

At least from where I am right now, it's looking bad. Maybe things end up fine or there's some opportunity down the road that is opened up. Or maybe not.

tbf, giving up top 10% and LR for USC/UCLA (and paying sticker for schools that are very far from cheap) might have been a very questionable move even before those results came in

I transferred to CCN and even then I wondered if it was worth it to give up my position at my old school

Does it seem like transfers are getting offers slower than other students? None of the transfers I have spoken to have gotten any offers from big firms...... everyone is in limbo

Most people at my school just started CB's within the past week. So the vast majority of people I know at this point don't have offers just yet, transfer or no transfer.

Cycle is basically over.

Lower T14 w/ LR, to HYS. 30 screeners, 19 callbacks, went on 10 and got 9 offers (Have yet to hear from last one). Extremely happy with the move. I know a lot of people wonder about the merits of transferring from a T14 especially with LR and doubt it helps job prospects but I'm positive it was the right move.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
