Is personal experience in practice area a plus?
So I'm thinking of expressing interest in Bankruptcy.
Will it help to mention that I have personally gone into bankruptcy and am familiar with it?

Telling firms you went bankrupt sounds like a great idea.lawgod wrote:So I'm thinking of expressing interest in Bankruptcy.

That would be like if you told a criminal law firm that you had first hand experience with murder and rape.

Well how is it different than telling a corporate practice that you used to be a CEO?

1) Bankruptcy is viewed as bad, being a CEO is viewed as being good. It shows you lack discipline.lawgod wrote:Well how is it different than telling a corporate practice that you used to be a CEO?
2) Personal bankruptcy prob doesn't transfer well to corp bankruptcy.
3) Did you do the work, or hire someone else to do it.
I got my wisdom teeth pulled, I wouldn't argue that experience makes me a potentially better dentist.
Go and contemplate how stupid this question is.

I told the Executive Office for the Immigration Review of DOJ that I had personal experience with getting deported. Got hired immediately.

If I once tried to extort money or engage in insider training, can I use it to say that I have experience in the white collar crime department? Lol, I seriously hope OP is joking.
