stats?

where is your current school located?

I think if you really want to be in SoCal, you're best bet is going to be to transfer. Of course, other things come into play -- COL in LA is expensive, and it looks like your leaving behind about a half scholarship.

I think the answer depends on what kinds of connections you have in LA, and if you're 100% set on working in So Cal.

How about some advice. I'd like to work in southern California so I think it is best to transfer but am having trouble deciding. I would be leaving behind law review and 22k per year scholarship to go. The oci at my current school is weak but I don't want to strike out at UCLA because I'm a transfer student. What do you think is my best option?

If you really want to work in Southern California and your current school is somewhere else then transferring to UCLA is likely a good option. UCLA's early OCI has 240 firms/offices to bid on, most in LA. Career services will give you a list of firms that hired SA's who transferred in. Bidding deadline is Friday I believe, so you'll have to make your decision quick.

Haven't heard anything yet. When I called last week they said they were still assembling the remaining applications and aimed to have the class filled by end of July.

anyone still waiting to hear back from UCLA? Any idea if this is still a possibility if you haven't been rejected yet? Do they reject via email or regular mail?

I'm still waiting. I went complete on June 30th. People with higher class rankings have already been rejected so I'm not especially hopeful now. :(

I can't say with authority what the possibilities are, but I'd say they are slim. OCI bidding closed last Friday, so you'd miss early on-campus interviews at this point if you got in. :|

In same boat... I think I went complete on the exact same day. Know one guy with basically identical stats to mine who I think applied after me and who got rejected last week. At this point I think I will pass on UCLA (if I do end up getting in) because of the OCI deadline issue (unless they will allow late bidding for OCI 1), and because I am already in at a peer school.

Although CA schools and living costs are expensive, one draw of UCLA for me was that as far as I know it would be possible to get in-state tuition for 3L, which I believe would make it cheaper than my other current option. But without a shot to bid in their primary OCI, it definitely wouldn't make sense for me to take it over my current option (absent a compelling reason, which I do not have) . Not to mention that my current option is probably at least as good all things being equal, and I have already paid the deposit.
