Chances at T6 from UCI

This is purely theoretical. I considered transferring for about a day when my fiance was in danger of being transferred out of the area, but decided there was no question I wanted to stay (and he wasn't transferred). Still, I'm curious what my chances at a HYS or even CCN transfer would have been since our school is pretty out of the ordinary (unaccredited, but on track to be tier one).

UC - Irvine
4.0 first semester
Nothing second semester, but I would be very surprised if it dropped below a 3.5/3.6.
The school curves to a B+ median, but we don't rank or give percentiles so I only know it's mathmatically impossible for me to be outside of the top 10% given the limited number of A+s.

Thanks!

(1) Your odds would be the same as those in your position at any T20/25/30, which is what your class resembles.

(2) I'd speculate you'd have had a great shot at CCN, and some shot at H.

(3) For you to drop from a 4.0 to a 3.5/3.6 would mean that you got a 3.0-3.2 GPA your second semester... did you mean to say that you don't think your 2nd semester GPA will be below a 3.5/3.6?

Thanks. The low 3.5/6 estimate was referring only to this semester. All my tests feel great but one can never tell w the curve. I wonder if the schools would have even taken an app from an unaccreditated school.

Hold on wait-- I thought that most law schools will not accept transfer students from schools that are not (yet) ABA accredited, and that they are pretty strict about this...

I think I remember one of the schools I looked at recently said that they won't accept transfers even if the school the person is hoping to transfer from is provisionally accredited..

So, if UCI is not provisionally accredited (I don't know) then I would say your chances at T6 are probably zero, and if they are provisionally accredited you might be excluded from consideration at some schools but not at others.

I was wondering if any of the top schools would consider waiving the ABA accreditation requirement as well. We do not yet have even provisional accreditation (although that should come this summer). We've had a waiver given by a few competitive government honors programs, but it's probably on a school by school (or program by program) basis. I am pretty sure the programs made that waiver only for UCI students. Now I almost wish I had tried just to satisfy my curiousity.

With provisional accreditation now it shouldn't be an issue. I have no idea what chances are to transfer into a T6 but I would guess you'd be very competitive. Pretty impressive GPA - didn't even know that was possible given the differences in each professor's exams. So congrats on your versatility. Irvine is pretty awesome, but I can't say anyone would blame you if you tried to transfer to T3 or T6.
