Another Transfer or Stay Poll
I posted this in one of the other threads but I am still confused on what to do, just asking what you would do if you were in my situation. I have to decide by friday so I am hoping to hear from Emory or GW early next week.
I changed the poll because the only option I have now is between W&L and Catholic, clearly if I am accepted at GW or Emory the transfer is worth it.
Thanks.

Gotta say, this is so close that I can't say without knowing your goals. I am leaning towards stay right now but only slightly.

I think knowing my goals is the problem. I know that getting a job through OCI is about 0%, so I am really open to a lot of different areas now such as state prosecutor, state clerkship, or government.

Re: Another Transfer or Stay Poll
Thanks for the input so far, I have some small connections to MD and NC. I am hoping for an decision from Emory or GW which will make the decision easy. I definently worried about giving up LR at Catholic and going to W&L where I only have the option to write onto secondary journals.

Personally, I think you will be far better situated if you stay.

Stay.
However, if you are admitted to GW or Emory, obviously go!

Re: Another Transfer or Stay Poll
I vote transfer.... no question...
Here is why:
Costs:
Catholic is roughly 40k so 1/3 scholarship= 26k per year.
COL is A LOT higher in DC as compared to WL.
WL is about 2k cheaper than Catholic. So you are getting a 14k scholarship at Catholic. 14k-2k WL = 12k difference in costs tuition wise.
I would say over half of the costs can be made up by living in virginia as compared to DC. So you are really in a sense looking at a difference in costs of 3-6k per year. Roughly a 10k difference for WL on your diploma as compared to Catholic.
If you are already in aout 100k in debt, what s another 10k?
Also, catholic is 3rd best if you only count DC and 7th best if you add WL/GM and WM into the mix!
My friend at American told me that OCI was a bloodbath there. Yo u will probably not get a job out of OCI from either place, but you have a higher chance at WL.
The small class size at WL can help you a lot in terms of networking at triyng to get a job. It s going to be tough from both places, but hte risks far outweigh the rewards.

Re: Another Transfer or Stay Poll
While today is decision day I am 99% staying... I was offered more money and am on Law Review. These two things are enough to keep me from transferring to W&L a lot has to do with location and loosing law review. Money is really a toss up. Obviously I am still waiting on Emory and GW, still hopeful that one of them will want me.
