I was hired at a biglaw firm that did not interview at my prior school.

In all fairness, you were also lucky enough to be part of c/o 2010 (just before things got really bad this last year).

I don't dispute that. But other transfers at M from C/O 2011 snagged firm jobs outside their original school's markets. A lot did not. Everyone's mileage will vary. I generally endorse thesealocust's comment above except that I think it's not impossible to get hired at a firm that doesn't hire grads from your original school ...

I was actually going to edit my last post yesterday to mention that I didn't mean to imply that it is impossible to get hired from a firm that doesn't hire grads from your original school. My only point was that people should be cautious with using datapoints from c/o 2010 (i.e. your class) to predict what their own OCI results will be (for the same reasons I would be cautious about using c/o 2009 datapoints--i.e. the class that did OCI during 2007).

I don't think the advice in this thread is 100% correct. I spoke with some transfers from my T2 to T6 schools, and they received offers from many large NY firms that did not interview at my T2.

Well over 50% of students of students get biglaw at T6. Comparing T6 to T20 es no bueno.
