That's probably true. However, in my experience, most attorneys that attended highly ranked schools are extremely conscious of rank, even relatively small differences. That consciousness of rank is extremely important to their self esteem.

You know, I read somewhere that Loyola Law contributes more partners than so-and-so law schools. LLS is not the same as SW. Hate to burst this bubble, but it's a simple fact. The point is the differences exists, and rankings matter. Good luck on your journey, D.

No. I did read it somewhere. However, the person that stated it was a hardcore LLS cheerleader.

0Ls please stay out of this. A quick perusal of the Shepard Mullin and O'Melveny websites is pretty indicative of the difference between SW and Loyola. There are more Loyola attorneys, but there are still quite a few SW attorneys. Of course, there are firms in LA where it is virtually impossible to get in from either school.

No, I'm saying that what you said didn't actually say anything. Think about it.

I got a $9,000 merit scholarship from Southwestern. I don't think that's going to cut it.

Let's see if they let me on the law review.

Purely hypothetical, but what if you aren't able to transfer to any school? Would you stay at Southwestern or consider dropping out entirely??

Good to hear. I would be SHOCKED if Loyola didn't accept you and hopefully GW pulls through regardless.

Hope your internship is going well.

Well I don't think Loyola is guaranteed. They receive over 200 transfer applications and only matriculate 35. That said, the website says that students in the top 30% are the "most competitive applicants," so I assume I'm in that category.

Side note: a hispanic female friend of mine from Brooklyn was accepted to transfer to San Diego with only a 2.8 GPA.

How could this be possible? Isn't median at Brooklyn like 2.9 or 3.0?

She was pretty shocked, to say the least. She's a CA native, and made a pretty big mistake going to Brooklyn. The only other school she applied to transfer was Southwestern.

Oh, well that puts things more in perspective.
