No argument if we're talking wave and beach quality. Depending on the day you ask me, that alone might tip the scales. Most of OC is a sterile suburban wasteland though. For culture, food, and stuff to do, LA murders OC.

I'd be honored to be eaten. Seriously, it's not a bad way to go -- dying in the ocean in the prime of life to feed its apex predator rather than wasting away in a nursing home with someone wiping your ass for you. But apparently they don't like how we taste, which is kind of a bummer.

Great response, you will do well in lawl school. See my post about witty humor = great grades as an authoritative source.

You know, I don't like how helicopters can fly overhead in Santa Cruz or wherever and see gigantic black shadows swimming around the surf, but that may just be me.

Hehe. I'm not saying it would be painless or fun -- just that I'd be honored.

BTW, what post are you talking about?

Man, I wish I could tell you. However, seeing as how I have posted like 4,000 times on this site and 9/10 (some would argue more) of my posts are completely useless, I couldn't say.

Let's derail this bad boy a little bit. What do you think about UCLA and USC? UCLA is probably my best target school but looks pretty dang expensive right about now.

Personally Id rather go to UCLA then GULC. I just think UCLA places better in CA then GULC likely does.

If that's where you want to live, I see no reason why you shouldn't go there, even over t14 schools. Good luck and I hope you make the choice that's right for you (I am not trying to end this exchange, just wanted to say this b/f I forgot).

That's my current thinking. I personally prefer LA to OC (not the beaches though -- most of LA is an open sewer), but I imagine UCI will do well in the LA market -- comparable at least to Loyola. T14 would be great, but I'm not looking for prestige per se. What I want is a great education at the right price. I'm not going to get a 3:1 student to faculty ratio anywhere else. There's not much portability in a UCI degree right now, but I'm dead set on SoCal, so that's less important.

We'll see what happens if UCLA and USC get back to me. That would be a really tough decision.

+1

I'm also set on working in SoCal and I'm still waiting on UCLA and USC. I'm not in at a T14, but I am in at a T20, and I think Irvine has the lead at the moment.

The right T14 would lure me away, and the one in question still may. It's just hard to leave LA.

What would you choose if you wanted to work in OR or WA? What schools would you take UCLA over?

Thats a good question. I think the key there is geographic ties, which you seem to have, so that is huge. Im not really informed to well on Or and Wa. Im going to talk to one of my profs who is a former hiring partner at an Amlaw 100 in the bay area who went to GULC, and see what he thinks about transferring and placement. I could throw in a general west coast question for you :)

That would be absolutely sweet, thanks man.
