Anyone else think the status checker is down b/c they are updating for the next round (good or bad)?

status checker being down is likely a reflection of their IT staff more than anything else lol

LSAC runs GULC's status-checker. Try pulling up the lsac.org website.

Hmmm,

I can access the AS site, but still no letter. I'm in Chicago. That would be pretty brutal to have gained access to the site and be rejected.

From an objective point of view, access to the website is probably an offer. It does say "Welcome [name] to GULC!". Therefore, before the offeror can revoke you should accept with consideration. Pay your deposit! Then, if they breach you can sue them for expectation damages. A T14 education... a few million? Haha. I'm just kidding around. You are in. Celebrate!

T2 in the 80s:
-top 3% 3.86 GPA
-1 cali
-no softs really
-low 160s LSAT around a 3.0 UPGA

worth noting my T2 is in the general area of GULC (but not in DC) and is definitely known to them. Also, I wrote a very compelling PS about why I wanted to practice in DC.

Just for all to note...i have pretty much the same stats as him, except 4% at a T60 school, and UGPA was 3.4 at an ivy league, also book award, and still Under Review...

And just to further note..T2 in the 80's as well, Top 1% 3.9 GPA, 2 Cali's, no real softs, 160 lsat, 2.9 UGPA, not in DC area, still under review. Just furthers the notion that transferring is a black box

I think my PS played a big part. It was extremely honest, and I think it came across as genuine since it was very genuine, about why I wanted to practice in DC and why I thought GULC (beyond the obvious reasons) was one of the best matches for me.

<--- Very similar stats and still UR.

How does that Tom Petty song go again?

GPA 3.8 from a top 30. No idea about rank, no rankings until Spring grades. But probably fairly high, just below the gunners.

UGPA 3.4 LSAT 163

Hope this helps anyone waiting.

I have no idea what this means.

It means correlation does not necessarily equal causation. :)

Ah, yeah I know. But there has to be some reason. I think my school has a lot to do with it too. I think it's fairly apparent T14s like to draw from T1s/T2s/T3s/T4s in their geographic area, and there's prob good reasons for it:

-the student is more likely to have a more comfortable transition
-they are aware of the reputation of the school and/or might have contacts there
-the student is more likely to do better at OCI as firms coming in will recognize the T2... as compared to a T2 from the midwest or down south or something. this obv helps GULC's #s. (this is prob the most important reason IMO)

I doubt it. I've never heard of that happening.

0 schools offer merit scholarships to incoming transfer students. None. Ever. For any reason.

HYS, however, have been known to offer need based grant aid, which can be unique amongst top schools and make them (surprisingly) better financial choices than lower-ranked schools to those in certain financial positions.

Apparently GULC didn't get the memo about my Jimmy Clausen analogy, He got drafted so you can let me in now!

On a serious note, Im starting to doubt whether I can keep my current rank this semester

Hey all, just started following this thread. Like many of you, I was switched to under review on 4/20 and haven't had any updates since.

I'm at a school ranked ~40 near DC, top 3% (3.80 gpa), 3.0 UGPA, 166 LSAT, and an internship w/ a professor -- was thinking I had a fairly strong chance but now I'm concerned that my LoR was weak or that I wrote a poor personal statement (I did submit it with one typo that I failed to catch). It's also notable that my LoR wasn't received until 3/24 and I didn't go complete until 3/26. But then I also probably underestimated just how strong the apps are of the other prospective transfers.

Anyway, hoping for another round of acceptances soon -- I'm quite surprised by how strong the credentials are of some of the people here still waiting. Good luck to you all.

thats about when I went complete, maybe even later, but Im kinda worrying about the same things.

I think its best to be patient before we start worrying. Get through finals and if mid-may we are deferred then freak out :)

Yup, gotta kill finals then. Would be nice to get the GULC acceptance though b/c unlike many of the uber-qualified people here who probably were admitted in the first pass, GULC is probably my first choice for personal reasons even if I could get into somewhere ranked higher (unless that happens to be HYS). So congrats to those who are in at this point, and plz consider going somewhere even better...
