Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
so, to clarify, do we even want our status checker to update in the next round? I don't know why I check since I don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing...

Bummer man. Still, a lot better than a rejection and I am sure you still have a great shot at gettin in RD (look at all the people already that aren't planning on attending who got in EA). Did your status change to decision rendered?chitown825 wrote:Deferred via email

Nope, the status checker still says under review. I mean, my decision has only been postponed, not rendered.stinger35 wrote:Bummer man. Good point. And a good way to look at it. I expect an email as well.chitown825 wrote:Nope, the status checker still says under review. Status checker is still at under review, but date changed to today.
I'm still confused as to the benefits of deferral over outright rejection. Does an outright rejection prevent you from applying RD?

I'm still under review and have not received an email deferring me. I'm guessing a rejection is on the way.

deferred email 10:56am
3.65 upper tier 2 school
I don't think it was a mass email....we are getting them at different times. Does anyone know if it is easier to get in regular action? Are the standards higher for early action? Any information would be much appreciated!

Top 9% @ mid T2 / LOR from GULC alum professor / compelling personal reasons for DC
I was under the impression that standards were lower for early action because it shows commitment to the school. Clearly I was mistaken.Marie9444 wrote: Does anyone know if it is easier to get in regular action? Are the standards higher for early action? Any information would be much appreciated!

I was trying to stay away from that negative thought - hope you aren't right. That would seriously suck.xferAlt wrote:I'm still under review and have not received an email deferring me. I'm guessing a rejection is on the way.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Deferred via email as well.
3.6 at lower tier 1 school (at least top 10% on a strict B curve...they don't release our exact rankings until the summer).
Arrived in my email box at 9:54. App still "Under Review" online but date online changed to today as others have noted.
I really hope that I didn't screw up my final exam from yesterday....

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I'm almost positive that it is good. If you look at those that have not received the email compared to those that have, even though it is a small sample right now, it seems that the "weaker" candidates received the deferral.stinger35 wrote:For those of us who didn't get the email....good sign or very bad sign???

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I figured as much for kings and stinger. See, that right there pretty much seals the deal that this is good news for you guys. It's as it should be, actually.
I would have deferred me too. I was hoping that my compelling ps (it really is and maybe I'll share it someday) could have made a difference but I am just such an unproven commodity at this point that I don't fault GULC at all for wanting to see my second semester grades. I've had a very roller-coaster-esque personal and academic life and my prior transcripts show that.
