My goal is GULC, and I will apply EA. I go to a school ranked in the 80s, and my first semester grades are as follows:

A+
A
A-
A-
B

What do you guys think? I also have a great LOR in the bag from my legal writing professor (a GULC alum).

Top 15% at a T25. Any chance at GULC EA (willing to go PT I guess)? Chicago ED?

PT? You could do FT at GULC. Work a little harder and bring your rank up a little more this next semester, and you have a shot at most of the T14.

Top 25% at T2 (55 - 70) after 1st semester. Would like to transfer to W&M, W&L, or WFU (in that order).

UGPA above median, near 75% at all three schools. LSAT below 25%.

I've checked the yahoo group and couldn't find much. Where in the class would I need to finish after 1L to give myself a good chance at getting into any or all of these schools as a transfer?

Top 20%?

Top 15%?

Thanks in advance.

Do any of you think I've got a shot at Northwestern or Chicago -- ultimate goal here is to move back to Chicago sometime. FYI class rank has not yet been published, but according to last year's ranks I expect top 5%.

You may be a little low in the school ranks to have a legitimate shot at Chicago. That said, I would go ahead and do Chicago ED.

If you keep those same grades after the 2nd semester and ED Chicago dings you, I would apply to any of the T14s you would be willing to attend, though you almost certainly don't have a chance at HYS.

most likely top 5% (school doesn't rank after first semester but gave cut-off scores. I have a 3.8 and some cut-offs are 25% = 3.358 and 33% = 3.262.) at a school in the 40s...shot at chicago ED? If so, is it even worth it considering that it is binding AND revocable? Has UC ever revoked an ED offer based on a fall in grades? What about GULC EA?

hate to break it guys but your current school's rank probably won't matter... if it's a top 100 school your rank will be your sole determinant

Why? Obviously T10% at a GMU beats the hell out of T10% at a Catholic. Why wouldn't they give substantial weight to your school's rank? My common sense tells me this is wrong but I will defer to you if you have first-hand knowledge of such a practice

this doesn't make any sense. unless you're talking about the difference between say 60 and 65, and not saying there is no difference between a T25 and a school in the 40s or higher...

so, by your logic top 10% at Texas has the same chance at transfer admission as someone in the top 10% at Suffolk? I know you want to think positively, but there's just no way that is accurate

Not even close to true. Look at the yahoogroups page transferapps.

I doubt your credibility. You asked for an estimate of your chances at GULC EA and then three or four posts later start doling out supposedly certain, but unsubstantiated, advice for another GULC EA applicant? And then tell them the difference between admit and deny is 3% points?

Most importantly, the numbers are just simply not on your side.

The rank of your current school matters - a lot.
