Re: William & Mary 2013
i heard that even taking into consideration 60% LSAT to 40% GPA weight given by most schools, .1 GPA equals 1 point LSAT.
Thats how I arrived at conclusion that those numbers were similar.
I went to a respectable private college with very low grade inflation.

I keep staring at the statement of intent form online. What truly is the difference between "I will enroll and submit $500 by May 1" or "I will hold this option open and if you don't receive my $500 by May 1 count me out" ?? Are they not essentially the same thing?
I'm also debating living on or off campus. I want to live alone but walk to campus.. I dislike this in flux period I am entering until August.
Anyone in the same boat?

I am (unless my waitlists come through). Basically I think what they mean is that if you do not let them know by April 1 what u r doing they can cancel the offer. So you have to let them know whether you are definitely going or are on the fence until May 1. This way they can give your spot to some WL dude in April and not have him/her forfeit the deposit at another school by offering the seat after May 1.
Not living on campus though..commuting from you know where.

My application has been under review since Feb. 22. Any thoughts?

that does not sound good, I am sorry to say. But not all is lost. Maybe you can write them a LOCI. I hope if I get in to T10 I will be able to withdraw and give you my spot.

Haha, good point. I was wondering how the whole deadline thing worked and I was thinking about calling them. Essentially it seems like their real deadline is May 1st, but I guess you have to let them know you're still alive before then.unbeknownst wrote:I keep staring at the statement of intent form online. Agree on the campus thing too... I looked into the housing options for on campus and I wasn't too happy. I don't care to do the dorm style thing again (too much of that in undergrad) but would still want to live somewhere close and where students usually live. Hopefully someone knows of a place like that.....?
Excited to visit March 26th!

Re: William & Mary 2013
Well, I submitted my online statement of intent. I'm excited about this weekend. I'm touring the gradplex and hopefully that will work out even though the furniture sucks. It's just so cheap and close to campus. I wish I didn't have to bunk with strangers and there was an option to live alone, but hopefully I will luck out with an awesome roommate or two (or three).

I talked to a lady in admissions today and she said if you select the "hold my spot until May 1st" option, then both your scholarship and acceptance are good until May 1st. If you don't deposit at that point, they will rescind it. It basically gives you another 15 days to decide and you don't have to worry about the April 15th deadline.unbeknownst wrote:I keep staring at the statement of intent form online. I Think there was an April 15 deadline in very early acceptance letters but they changed it to May 1st to be more in-line with other schools.unbeknownst wrote:There's an April 15 deadline?tkicker182 wrote:I talked to a lady in admissions today and she said if you select the "hold my spot until May 1st" option, then both your scholarship and acceptance are good until May 1st. They haven't cashed my $500 bucks yet, but here's to the class of 2013, eh? I'm looking for housing in case the gradplex doesn't work out. Anyone got any advice or want a roommate?

Just thought I'd bump us back to the top. My tar says it all - very excited to be in the W&M Class of 2013 or 2014 (if I do a joint JD/MPP).

Re: William & Mary 2013
Just sent in my deposit...
To answer the questions above, I think you had to fill out the "statement of intent" by April 15th but didn't actually have to send the deposit until May 1. So basically you could tell them to hold your spot, but you weren't ready to commit. (I did that as I agonized between here and WUSTL).
I don't know much about housing though. I wanted to live in the gradplex just so there'd be other law school students around to hang out with, but they don't allow pets. I really want to bring my cat, so I'll probably look for something off-campus where there are still some other LS people around.

Haha, it is a pretty terrible mascot (not the griffin part - the actual design), but it's better than my old school. We were just a regular state school (not affiliated with the Marines in any sense), yet we were the Leathernecks.krispykitten wrote:god help us with our pantsless man bird.84Sunbird2000 wrote:Just thought I'd bump us back to the top. Can't help but check this board every week or so and feel ashamed that W&M isn't finding itself as the busiest of all the school pages.
This post is for everyone else who finds themselves doing the same thing.

I'd given up on the page after a couple of weeks. haha. I just randomly checked tonight because there's nothing on tv. My post if pretty much a waste of time to read, but I figured I'd reply just to keep us on page 1. Hope everyone's having a nice summer. See yall in August!
