Nice. I do more of the LHE ring games. Easier to just play odds.

NLHE (esp. heads up) is a huge headache for me. Takes more skill and intangibles. Kudos to you.

I accidentally registered for a limit game once and I almost killed myself I was so bored, lol.

NL HU isn't too bad because it actually is pretty mechanical, after a while. Knowing what hands to raise/fold pre-flop, which boards to continuation bet/bluff at, when to take stabs at pots, how much to raise, and when it is best to just start shoving. Once you get the fundamentals down it is just a matter of adjusting to your opponent.

lol limit can get pretty boring. But if you multi-table, it gets (a little) more exciting.

I guess I don't like playing NL HU online because it requires relatively more adjustments to your opponent to do well. With limit full ring games (esp. at lower limits), simply playing odds and situations (while almost ignoring player tendencies) works much better for me.

Live and drunk NL HU is always a winner, though 8)

Hey guys.

For a long time, I had been lurking this thread, wishing I were apart of the C/O of 2013. I recently got off the WL and will be attending this fall. I look forward to being your classmate!

Now, I can start looking for apartments. What a good feeling to have to do this..

Congrats on your acceptance.

It's a wonderful feeling to reach the point where you can apartment hunt.

Credited. We'll have to get a game going every now and then once the semester starts. Some of the current students mentioned playing poker every week or so at ASW and they said it was a good way to take a break from studying.

How long is everyone taking to get an Award Notification on ISIS? I am on the 6th week from when they reviewed my info. Does that seem excessive?

Mine took about 3-4 weeks and I thought that was a long time. 6 weeks definitely seems excessive, I would do a friendly e-mail/call to make sure everything is okay.

Mine took 5. I called and spoke with someone, who very politely told me to chill - my award was processed the next day.

Been out on vacation, so missed the poker talk. While I ain't great, I am always down for some Hold 'Em.

And traehekat, congrats on the money, man!

My award notification took five weeks. The process probably would've been a week faster if I hadn't overlooked a couple important questions on my FAFSA.

The Bike Parking Guide pdf (available on the uiowa website) shows stations on both sides of the law school. No idea about Seville, though. I just sort of assumed I was going to have to keep my bike inside my apt.

I checked out apartments across from Seville, and I am pretty sure (though not certain) there were very crowded bike stations. There are definitely some in front of the law school.

I drove by Seville the other day and the bike rack was jam packed. The law school has stations for bicycles and mopeds.

Does anyone know if there is a bike theft problem in Iowa City. At my undergrad it was a big issue.

Saw some people talking about the best buy acer monitor deal....are y'all purchasing ALL computer stuff (including new laptops) now or are you waiting to get the laptop itself after we can get the $2K once school starts? Can we get it now and get a refund later? Also, can the other stuff like monitors (yes, I want 2 hehe), docking station, etc. be counted in that $2K?

additional student loan funding up to 2K is allowed for laptop purchases...oh and i just answered my own questions:

Computer purchase. A computer may be purchased through an outside vendor or
from a UI selected vendor. For information on UI selected vendors visit
http://www.its.uiowa.edu/cs/helpdesk/demo/ or call 319-384-4357.
 Students initiate the process to include computer costs in the cost of
attendance. Eligible computer costs include the cost of the computer, 17”
monitor, printer, handheld, surge protector, connecting cables, word
processing software (Microsoft Office or equivalent) and anti-virus software.
 Costs will only be allowed if either a purchase invoice or a purchase receipt
supports them.
 The maximum amount that we will allow is $2,000.
 Only one computer may be added to your student loan eligibility as a law
student.
 First year students are allowed to include the cost of computers purchased on
or after June 1st of their entering academic year.
 Requests to include computer costs must be made prior to the last day for
downward tuition and fee adjustments of the student’s financial semester at
the University of Iowa. Complete the computer adjustment form available
on the UI COL website.
