So I was out of the country for the second half of the summer, and was a very late decision to Fordham. Sooo this is pretty much the worst possible way to start law school, but I got back the other day and not only is there a book to read, but there are zero copies readily available in nyc. Apparently they all have to be ordered online. Is there anyone in the nyc area who would be willing to loan/sell me a copy for the day so I can try and power through as much of it as I can? You'd not only be saving my *ss, but getting some serious karma points before law school even starts!!!

I know this sounds so typical, and I probably deserve what you're thinking.... but if anyone would be willing to help I'd really, really appreciate it.

Please, someone let me know -- you can PM me or email me (dwightkschrute33@gmail.com)

How's everyone's orientation going?

It's been great meeting everybody thus far.

Anyone planning on heading to the Boat Basin Cafe later on tonight?

I believe that they are going to break us down into even smaller sections for some parts of the class. Confusing! (And he's amazing, right?!)

Sucha long day!

Feeling like taking a snooze. On the other hand, the head of the library is huh-larious.

i can't remember exactly when we found out, but they posted something on the admitted students website at some point before the first class listing your section based on your last name (alphabet-wise, that is). for confirmation purposes, you will all be broken down into small sections for legal writing and legal research (about 12-14 people). most professors for legal writing are working professionals, and simply come in to teach legal writing (so your chances of actually have neustadt are rather small). legal research will be taught by a person from the reference/research team from the library, and this class only lasts about 3/4 of first semester, while legal writing can last almost the whole year depending on your professor

For those of you in section 11 and 12: Greene assigned us page 59-62 and 68-69. Does anyone know if we're supposed to do the case from 62-68, because page 68 and 69 are questions and comments on the case. I'm really confused.

wait but the email said:

Both the Legal Writing and Legal Research classes will start meeting the week of August 30. There is no assignment for the first meeting of either class, and you will receive a syllabus at the first class meeting.

also, then where are the books listed now?

We don't have an assignment for Writing but DO for Research (Thurs). If you go to the LC bookstore site and input the course #, they'll tell you the books you need.

LOL - don't apologize, please! It's rather complicated. You need to claim your Law email account.
mail.lawnet.fordham.edu (I think that's it) That's where I found my info. If you're an evening student I can tell you what section you're in but I think you'll still need to log in for assignments (ours were posted vial Blackboard/Lexis)

Hope everyone is having a great first week of classes! I know that everyone in my section has been really cool, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the material. Btw...has anyone received their refund from financial aid yet? It seems kind of ridiculous that they would credit the money after the date when most people have a rent payment due, and well after we would have had to buy books for class. My account shows a credit posted on Aug. 26, and the office said it takes 3-5 days from that, but who knows with this school!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
