Personally, I'm beginning to think that section 3 is a myth, and that castellon is a secret NYU plant to make us think otherwise.

I should be able to. Anyone else living in Mercer?cahesu wrote:Also, I fully support the idea of pre-orientation meet-ups. I was hoping we might be able to put together a big one Tuesday night before orientation, perhaps at a bar near NYU. Anyone interested?

Dun dun dun, you got me! Hills is no longer teaching so everyone in section 3 was secretly rounded up and sent to Siberia... I don't think my roommate is on TLS, but I'm not sure. After reading Epstein's teacher evals, I'm a little less excited, and slightly more worried.BenJ wrote:Personally, I'm beginning to think that section 3 is a myth, and that castellon is a secret NYU plant to make us think otherwise.

Anybody wanna trade for Miller? (Kidding. I'm still pretty stoked, though perhaps a little less starstruck)

Re: NYU Class of 2013
Anyone else just get this and have a heart attack? My schedule is the same, though.IMPORTANT NOTE: The registration process for entering students is final as of this writing. If you checked for your schedule prior to receiving this email, the schedule information that you viewed likely has changed. Your section assignment is final only as of this writing.

Where *are* these evals, pray tell?

Phew! Miller's evaluations look fantastic. Which is a good thing because Civ Pro was never something that struck me as very innately interesting.

Everyone last year was laughing at the prospect of this year's 1Ls having Epstein for Contracts. Have fun

Section 1 Lawyering Section 3 checking in.
Also, I'm in the city already and would definitely be open to the proposed TLS pre-orientation drinks.

Also had a huge heart attack about the potential for schedule changes, but I guess they just wanted to make us jump.
Also, I note the continued lack of evidence for the existence of section 3.

For torts, he taught us what he thought the law should be rather than what the law actually is, then tested on what the law is. Torts is a fairly simple topic so it wasn't a big deal in the end, although it did have us sweating a bit throughout the semester. Contracts, from what I gather (my experience was atypical as my professor focused heavily on a few main topics and either didn't touch or barely scratched the surface on other pretty pretty important topics), can be a little more complex. Still, just like any course it will be on a curve so it's not like half the class will get Cs. Looking at his old exams and sample answers can be very helpful in making sure you understand the law the way he does and seeing what a strong answer looks like. For us the TAs were helpful because like us they had struggled with the issue of what to take out of 4 hours per week of mad genius, but since your TAs won't have taken Contracts with Epstein it might be less so for you.
And yes, I agree with sophie. McKenzie= the man.

One of the eval comments that stuck out to me mirrored what you said about his teaching what he thought the law should be rather than what it is -- I appreciate the perspective. I'm not super worried about it, because I know I'll need to learn what to do for all of my professors, but hearing that kind of remark makes me sweat a little bit is all

Section 3, 7 for lawyering. Don't get to town until Tuesday morning. Hope I have some fantasy football/NBA fans in my section!Sakura3210 wrote:Hey do you guys mind me compiling a classmate section list?
Oh and also, how do you all feel about another meetup before orientation? Seeing as a lot more people might be in town now.

Not to change the subject back, but I read this on the housing check in site (http://www.law.nyu.edu/housing/oncampus ... /index.htm):
The WiFi network in D’Agostino and Mercer Residential Halls provides wireless access to each room throughout the entire building, in addition to the in-room ResNet ethernet connections. The network supports the new 802.11n security standard in addition to 802.11a/b/g. For the best performance, ITS recommends that you use 802.11n or 802.11a if your computer supports these transmission protocols.
A lot of people were concerned about internet and I wasn't sure if you guys saw this - sorry if this is old news.
