I emailed them my tax return, faxed my dad's business supplement and within a day, it showed up on MyAccess as received. Mail will be your slowest avenue for this. Email is probably best, but fax works.

Luckily, there are tons of flights between our two cities and it's only around 2 and a half hours by plane. Between her coming up for weekends and my coming down for breaks and occasional weekends I think it'll be alright. Hopefully after she graduates (end of my 1L year) she'll come up to DC for grad school.

It's at least four and a half hours by plane, but neither of us will have the money to fly back and forth regularly anyway. We've been together for a year and a half, and spending almost that much time apart (she has to do an internship the summer after she graduates) seems so long. Ugh. It's good to know there will be others in the same situation if we end up trying the long distance thing though. I hope it works out for you!

Thanks, and same to you. I'm re-appropriating some "travel allowance" funds form my loans to the "help pay for girlfriend to visit" fund. Not sure what your loan situation will be like, but don't forget that you can try to do that to help with the cost of visiting each other. Also check JetBlue pretty often -- sometimes they have $99 or $129 round trip specials!

Is anyone going to the Admitted Students Reception in LA this weekend?

Can any women chime in about what they've worn to the past receptions? Recommended dress is "casual" but Im one of those people that doesnt own anything in between jeans and business attire. In situations like this I wish I were a man and owned a pair of khakis.

i went to the boston one - it was at a firm downtown and the recommended dress was "business casual" so i wore tan dress pants and and heels and a short sleeved blouse. clothes at the boston one ranged from jeans to full suits to dresses (and one really short mini dress), though. so i'd say if it specifies "casual," nice jeans would be fine.

$20,000 via email. It went to my junk mailbox.

The way it is stated, I believe it means that the $20,000 includes my need-based aid, so it is really just $4,000 extra. It isn't based on whether my sibings are in college though, which eliminates some risk. So pretty sweet.

I just wore a bikini to the New York one. Everyone seemed to want to talk to me, can't figure out why!

Ok, in all seriousness, I wore a knee length grey wool dress with a nice silver blazer over it. I also wore 3.5" blue pumps, but that's my thing. However, the NY reception's dress code was business casual. If you're going to go for jeans, then I'd do premium denim with no distressing and a nice pair of shoes.
... I really like clothes.

Also this reception is mid day at a couples home, not a law firm, and its right by the beach. It seems like jeans should be appropiate. (And of course I agree with the premium, non-distressed denim.)

The New York reception was in the early evening at an alum's home, but they still wanted us looking business-y. There were some older alums there, in suits. I noticed a few pairs of jeans, but only on men. However, earlier in the day may merit a more casual look.

Maybe add a suit jacket (or similar) to the jeans and heels? It's a really nice fancier casual look and would probably work quite well. I have an off white jacket from Banana Republic that's really versatile and sounds perfect for this reception. It looks great with a pair of skinny jeans, too.

called them today about just such quandaries... fax or email is best, both are secure. they use an e-fax machine, so it's not like your sensitive tax info is just being spat out into a pile of paper. ALSO, and this was such a relief for me: by continuing to ask for more and more documents, they're indicating that you have passed muster for need-based grant aid eligibility. I was just alerted about parental tax returns, but on my phone call they said that was for final documentation, my review is done and I should hear about grants by Wednesday. fingers crossed, both me and my parents are super broke and I've got sibs in college.

95% sure about Georgetown, btw. hello all. still on a couple waitlists, but the open house was awesome. grant $$ could seal it.

It appears that Georgetown shall remain the caboose for at least one more year. On the positive side, Georgetown did creep closer to Cornell. T13 next year, perhaps?

I hope 8)

I hate that I care enough about rankings to dedicate time to discussing this, but correct me if I'm wrong: The data aggregated for these rankings were done with both PT and FT stats, right? In response, did Georgetown make PT acceptance more difficult in the same way that GW did? If so, wouldn't that bode well for jumping up next year?

i am glad they are consistent and that tax law climbed a ranking (not that THAT mattered much, but it makes me feel warmer and fuzzier).

I'd like to add that I've never met anyone who went to Cornell Law. Ever. The rest of the T14 and nearby schools, sure. Cornell, never. Who are these mysterious students attending this school?

Also, Georgetown is #1 in clinical programs and #3 in International Law. I like that.
