Congrats! I'll be coming down on the 20th, since move-in is the 21st. My mom, my aunt, my dad, and my stepdad are all contributing to the effort (aka carrying all my stuff for me because I have no upper body strength at all). 22 years old and still having the fam move me in. Oh well, it's better than me trying to move stuff, because that'll never happen.

As per previously mentioned logic, does this really mean that you and Split5 will become the best of friends?

Also, I noticed a few pages back that you were 100% committed to taking volsi out on a date....if she looks anything like Kalinda (like her icon) we are so fighting over her.

EDIT: When trying to facebook stalk my peer advisor, I found her conspicuously absent from the social networking site....does this, perhaps, mean she does not truly exist?

Who is it? Lots of people change their names on Facebook around job-hunting time. I might be able to tell ya how to look for her.

me too, kim! I have my mom and aunt helping me move in. Plus, my other aunt and uncle will be in town a few days before move-in, and I'm going to show them around. I'll be in DC the 19th, but with the family until move-in and such.

I'm trying to "move" all by myself. Or at least without parents. Which means that I'm buying everything there, except for clothes and a few personal items from home.

i think i will be 35 and married and my mom will still be helping me move. it just seems easier.

Well I also don't exactly have a big stash of furniture collected up. I ditched all of my college stuff because I was moving back home. Whenever I move between two places, neither of which come furnished or are my parents' house, I'll probably get help moving.

So what does everyone think of the different talks and tours scheduled during orientation?

I can't decide which tour I want to sign up for!

It seems like if we want to attend any of the 11am talks, then we can't go on any tours at all because of the time conflict. Same goes if we want to attend any of the tours before 11:30am, then we can't go to any talks. That kinda sucks.

Oh apparently Gewirz is supposed to be pronounced "Ghee-wertz". At least that is what it said in the booklet by the front door when I dropped by last weekend. Mystery solved.

Also, we can't go into our rooms anymore because they have finished renovations, and there are now summer students living in the rooms. But you might get lucky if you go knock on your door and someone happens to let you in to take a peek. Unfortunately I wasn't. The guards are really nice, and they will still let you walk around the building though.

I don't see the service projects listed. Anyone see them anywhere? The times are there, but not what each one is.

I'm thinking about this tour: Youth Services Center Juvenile Detention Facility. This is the only tour I see related to anything I want to do while in school...

"I haven't looked into tours much though."

FYI, another job is posted.. Seems to be for Part timers though. A job for waterman!!!! 8) Is he banned again?

I did, I think we're all supposed to. Mine seems really cool, answered my question in the best way possible.

None of the tours looked amazing to me, although I'm sure they will all be interesting. I am excited for the talk with Pro. Schrag (or something like that).

Did anyone read the books they suggested in an email last week?

Are they any good?

I'm actually most interested in the 3 talks at 11, so that probably means no tour for me. :(

My peer advisor emailed me too, but I couldn't think of anything to ask her since I already have you all. :)

I'm planning on the PI talk, followed by the IP talk. No faculty tour for me either.

I am reading "Case of a Lifetime" and enjoying the read. I ordered them both from amazon...inexpensive paperbacks.

I am doing a tour...there will be ample opportunities for talks and lectures while we are at GULC...but a faculty led tour...in an interesting part of the city, or at a neat landmark, seems like a unique opportunity. It is too bad they did not give us time to choose more than one!

For those who need to make payments (i.e. did not take out loans for the full amount), don't forget that the tuition payments are due by Monday. Also, you can only pay with checkings/savings, in case you need to prepare for that.

Yikes, that was such a scary payment!

Edit: Also, decided to go with the Georgetown insurance. They'll take it at the health center which is a plus. Also, I would be uncovered by my parents' insurance from early Nov. to Jan., so this way, I'll have full insurance coverage.

I havent sent my official transcript, gotten my immunization form signed, filled out the letter that came in the mail from direct loans, or read anything about when i'll actually have to do something about tuition.... or asked them to remove my health insurance fee. How late and screwed am I?

Dude, my stomach hurts FOR you. That's a lot to do.

Edit: But as the girl who almost lost her Gewirz housing for forgetting to send in my occupancy agreement, I'm not judging. =)
