At one point we were able to see the required books list for each class so that we could buy them. I can't find that now. Anybody able to?

You can also check prices at the HLS Coop site --LinkRemoved--
Term is FALL 2010
Department is FIRST YEAR
Course is your section number
For section you need to choose each one individually (TBA, TBA 1, TBA 2, and TBA 3).
After you add all four, click "View Textbook List" and it will show you the prices at the Harvard Coop.

Re: Harvard Class of 2013
Are y'all doing any pre-class get-togethers? I'm here in the area now and I'd love the chance to get to know more of my fellow TLSers before classes start. I realize I'm not C/O 2013, but I'm just as new to HLS...

I'd be up for a pre-class TLS meet-up after the 25th.

Do we need the recommended books on the Co-op site? Is it like BS recommendations so they make more money, or do people actually buy and use these things?

Re: Harvard Class of 2013
Okay, so I just added all the books for my section (#3) and the total for all the books at the coop came out to $1100 w/ recommended books and like $950 with required-only. The annual financial aid budget for books and supplies for 2010-2011 is just $1150.
Am I doing something wrong? Are these books supposed to be this expensive???
Anyone else seriously annoyed by this?

Re: Harvard Class of 2013
I think I remember the financial aid stuff talking about how our book budget was unlikely to cover all of our first year books and that we may have to use some from the living expenses section of the budget. I didn't really believe it when I read it--after all, the budget is quite large for books--but I certainly believe it now. These books are expensive! I found much better prices on amazon.

what adds further to the frustration is that some of the books carry a "will ship in 1-2 months" estimate on Amazon :-/
