For anyone interested, the class schedules and exam schedules for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 are up. We can't find out our *exact* schedule until we are assigned to a section (sometime during the first week of August based on last year), but you can at least know what the class schedules look like. For instance, no matter what section you are we have class Friday until 3:25pm (worth knowing for those making travel plans during the breaks).

it would be even better to know WHEN we are supposed to be arriving in Ithaca if we plan on attending the highly secretive AOP! I need to book a flight asap!

THANK. GOD. Earliest possible class is 9:05am. As a mega-night owl who has been working 10-6 the past few years, this delights me to no end. I was terrified I'd have to contend with an 8am class.

Looks like (in the fall, anyway) Torts and Contracts both have 8:30am finals. Ewww.

Yeah, but if you have ~4 hour finals, I rather start them early than be coming up on lunch time or start being tired in the middle of the day.

Wasn't until I saw the pending financial aid today on the finaid site. That is a lot of money (thankfully, I'll be canceling most of it when my GI Bill kicks in).

+1. Worst final I ever took in college was in a 4-7pm slot. Didn't help that I'd already had 2 finals earlier that same day.

I've been trapped at home so long I'm actually getting excited. Ask me how I feel in... 4 months.

I know I'm going to regret saying this... But... I'm having a hard time believing that law school is THAT. MUCH. HARDER. than any of my other schooling. I mean, yes, it's going to be hard. But there seems to be a desire among a lot of 0Ls to reinvent the wheel. I've been studying and analyzing and taking exams for 16 years. Isn't law school just going to be a ramped up version of the same? As I said, I know I'm probably going to regret saying this in a couple of months. I'm just having a hard time buying into all the hype.

I'm with you. I am thinking that 1L is going to be a lot like basic training in this sense. Lots of talk about how hard it is before you do it. Seems like hell while you are doing it. Afterward you have lots of stories and it doesn't seem so bad as it was, but you smile everything you hear someone going through it talking about how hard it is.

Probably because they're take home exams... Generally, all regular 1L exams begin at 11am.

ETA: Yikes! Having actually looked at the exam schedule, it looks a though they're trying something different. Wow, good luck guys. Although, I took three of my exams in the spring starting at 9am, and I have to say I preferred it.

ETA2: and they put CivPro on a Saturday? This can't be the final schedule. (However, from my perspective, it's awesome, as I'll be done with exams on Dec. 8th.)

On that note, has anyone been officially invited to AOP?

This might be a dumb question, but what's AOP. Google won't tell me.

AOP= Academic Orientation Program. Usually it's just for students who indicated they were a minority or LGBT on their application. It starts a week earlier than regular orientation.

I was in the admissions office yesterday, and it looks as though they're preparing something to mail out (that looked like the package I received for AOP last year.)

In unrelated news, I don't have the heart to go into the waiting threads to tell folks your class is currently over-enrolled.

Seems like the trend this cycle

Yeah it seems like most schools are over-enrolled, or have created massive waitlists, or both. Sucks to be depending on waitlists this year.

Has anyone secured parking for this year? I'm living in upper collegetown and don't want to pay for on campus parking, but would like to have my car somewhere nearby.

QFP.

I mean, I don't know what you studied in college, but it's not like an English or even a difficult philosophy class, because for the most part your grade is not based on papers you write on your own time, but on one high-pressure time intensive one-off exam. Nor is it like a poli-sci class because those are bullshit. You can get a b+ in a polisci class without have ever gone to one session (or even done more than skim the readings, imho). Up to half of the class will do as much as possible and still get a B+ or lower. Obvi, that is all probably something everyone knows, even before going in, but when you're actually in the shit, law school, pedagogically, does reinvent the wheel, and that's why it may seem like 0Ls attempt to "reinvent the wheel." That being said, i think the key is to remain calm during the semester--to not miss the forest for the trees. Also, i should prob be the last person to try to instill any kind of fear in y'all, bc it really isn't that hard. I think it can be done by just doing the reading and then turning it into high gear like 2-3 weeks before exams.

Enjoy the 4th everyone.
