What were the chances of getting off the waitlist here in years past?
As you can tell I am extremely confident about my application.

Re: Boston College Law School - 2013
speaking from personal experience (as a result of being waitlisted then rejected by bc/bu even though I was inside and a bit above bc's #'s), i want to say that work experience is very important. that is why i am working now and doing the whole thing again.

Having gone through this experience last year I'll be happy to field questions about BC's application process. PM me or post.

BC and I are fighting right now because they don't find me impressive enough to wave my application fee

BC is an LSAT game, BU is mostly a GPA game. A lot of people get into one and not the other depending on how they split.

based on my convos last year with them (the bu one in person), I want to disagree to some degree.Blindmelon wrote:BC is an LSAT game, BU is mostly a GPA game. A lot of people get into one and not the other depending on how they split.

How so? I'm at BU right now and know lots of people that didn't get into BC. I also have a lot of friends who got into BC, but not BU. Its really weird being that they are peer school in almost every aspect.imisscollege wrote:based on my convos last year with them (the bu one in person), I want to disagree to some degree.Blindmelon wrote:BC is an LSAT game, BU is mostly a GPA game. I'd say you're an in at BC, but a WL/In at BU. Can't you do better than BC/BU with those numbers though? I would think you could pull of a Vand/UCLA/UT.Pearalegal wrote:How about me with a 3.5 and 168?

I think imisscollege may have been talking about BC being LSAT heavy in admissions and BU being GPA heavy. From what I've heard/read it seems to be the other way around?!Blindmelon wrote:How so? Don't let Observationalist hear you say that. I would have an absolute fit if someone said it about my school.Pearalegal wrote:Boo Vandy, hate that place.Blindmelon wrote:I'd say you're an in at BC, but a WL/In at BU. Also, your numbers give you like a 50/50 shot at Cornell. You would probably get decent money from most of the T30.

Eesh, you're right. To clarify...the reasons I detest Vanderbilt are purely personal. A group of students there made facebook group about me and one dude pushed me into a wall when I was on the campus. This was all ugrad (little f'ers), and obviously not a reflection of the school as a whole. I admire anyone who gets into Vandy and hope they love it.
However, I'm not going near that place again, too many bad memories.
Cornell is actually one of my very top, applied EA. I was waitlisted at UVA, with a very kind note from Jason Dugas telling me to let him know the results of my Dec LSAT as soon as I get them. So, hopefully it will work out.

Wow, that is really horrible. I'm sorry. I hear the law students are all really cool, though (and if Observationalist is a representative sample, they possibly put my own classmates to shame).Pearalegal wrote:OperaSoprano wrote:

You are wise to retake. I'm happy where I am, but I will always look back and wonder what I might have gotten with proper studying. (I got a 164, so maybe 170 was possible?)

Re: Boston College Law School - 2013
BC rejected me last year, BU waitlisted me (3.55 or so, 165). I now have more like a 3.7 and a 168 so I'm hoping for better luck with both of them. I was under the impression that I got rejected by BC after being deferred EA because of my lowish gpa and my lack of work experience and the BU admissions person told me that with even one or definitely two points higher on the lsat even if the GPA remains the same, I would have a very very good shot. That's why I said that.

Ah gotcha. The medians would say otherwise though. BC's medians are 3.5 and 166, while no one has BU's new numbers, they'll probably hover around 3.7 165. Also, look at LSN, BU seems to be more GPA focused, and BC seems to almost have an LSAT wall. With your new numbers, you're a shoe in w/$ at both. I have a friend with a 168/3.9 who got 25k a year from BU. I think you should DEFINITELY be setting your sites higher though, unless you really want to be in Boston. Anecdotally, I love BU.imisscollege wrote:BC rejected me last year, BU waitlisted me (3.55 or so, 165). I now have more like a 3.7 and a 168 so I'm hoping for better luck with both of them. With a 169, I'd definitely say that you have a shot. I'm not sure how much BC weights intl status, but it can't hurt--they're always going on about diversity and stuff like that.daniel5215 wrote:LSAT 169
